Re: HELP!!!chap stick leak onto front leather seat
Leave it in...chapsticks have moisturizers in them so it'll be good for the leather, after all, leather is only skin....
Just kidding... Rambo's suggestion would probably work....using hot soapy water may help more though. The heat should soften the chapstick, making removal a little easier.

Not to be obstreperous, but wouldn't you think you should use cold water, not hot?
Hot water would warm and melt the chapstick, so you would end up smearing, and actually coating the leather. Instead of breaking the bond to the leather, you end up changing the solid state of the chapstick to be more maliable... If it weren't RED, this wouldn't be a problem- Free leather conditioner!
Cold water will allow the soap to loosen the bond to the seat, while holding the chapstick together. This will make removal much easier, as you won't be cleaning off hundreds of thousands of particles, rather a few chunks.
The same principle applies to blood, wax, etc.-- and since chapstick is wax, I think it'd only be logical... thoughts?

Re: HELP!!!chap stick leak onto front leather seat
Just thinking of the days (many years ago) when I was a waiter putting myself through university. To remove spilled red candle wax from the upholstered chairs, we'd place a cloth over the wax after scraping up whatever we could first, and pour boiling water over the spot. The wax would melt and wick up almost completely to the cloth. You make a good point though. Remove as much as you can first.
Never tried the hot method on leather myself. Maybe best to call a leather furniture shop to ask for suggestions.

Re: HELP!!!chap stick leak onto front leather seat
God...back when i was in the university it was great...I BEAT ON my car and didn't worry about the interior let alone the exterior....I used to eat cheetos in my car and then wipe my hands on the underside of the seat between your legs...now i have this leather i am supposed to take care of and cant wipe hands anywhere. No drinks allowed in fact for fear of sticky cola products going in and never coming out of perf leather...god i miss my beater.
ps i used alcohol on leather to clean chap stick but it was clear - the black tube...now no chap stick...i actually do an inspection on passengers for certain items...soon shoes will be coming off as in airport.

Check with DallyCurtis.
The night before our last meet in Toronto he had some chap marks on the hood of his black coupe.
I'm sure he found a way to get them off
