Other ideas:

Drive on lawn and park it under a tree, or go to a public park and park it under some shade.

You can buy pop up tents that are 12 x 12 for about $50, if you can find one on sale. Might need two to cover the car entirely or you have to do one half of the car at a time.

Go to a parking garage.

Why is it that bad to wax in the sun?

I get my 2006 G35 Coupe 6MT tomorrow. Its black with premium and sport pacakge along with LoJack and the Teflon Coating. Do I still need to wax it with the teflon?

The sun will tend to heat up the paint making it softer and more likely to scratch. For a black car, make sure the paint is cool to enough to lay your palms on before washing. Also, don't use a sponge to wash it, use a soft wash mit.

Aside from what Espresso mentioned if you wax when it's hot the wax will harden on the paint much more quickly then when it's cool - that means you have to remove it panel by panel or it becomes a real paint to remove without scratching the paint.

Summary: friends house, parking garage, car wash bay, get up early, late at night, under a shady tree, town park, under a bridge, buy a pop up tent, or sun friendly products like the Poorboy's World line of products.

I also recommend you use a sealant instead of a wax, far more durable. This may be especially handy for someone struggling to find an area to take of the G. A sealant like the Menzerna FMJ applies and removes super easy and will take you far less time than some waxes as well.

I've used Mothers new FX line and it is the easiest wax I've ever used. Like everyone else said, do it early, late, cloudy, etc. Now, I'm in the same situation as you. I don't have a garage but I do have a tree. However, I have used the FX when it is still sunny out (about 3) and had great results from the FX. It gets so slick that my hands slides off the trunk when I close it sometimes. I've switched to Mother's Reflection line and it is also very good. It really makes the DG metalic specs sparkle and makes the grey dark as oppose to the shinny wet look of the FX. It isn't as easy to remove as the FX in the sun but you would want to stick to one section at a time (i.e. Hood, trunk, left side, right side, etc) when using the Relection or you can do half the car with the FX. Works for me.

Yep - most spray ons are ok in the sun because you can use them when the car is still wet. They get streaky in the cold, though.
