im thinking about takin my g there cuz you know i dont have the time and
machine car washers do a pretty decent job
my mom takes her maxima there and gets the whole thing done ,wash ,polish and wax and her car looks nice after that.

and i have a question . those places clean the chaset .is it really worth it?

dont even take the chance. there has been numerous complaints on this forum about this very topic. they have been scratching the rims on the rails.
perhaps go to the do-it-yourself car wash places, only takes 15 minutes with high pressure spray

I've never had trouble with scratched rims or other parts at a carwash place. My problem is they don't freakin' clean the whole car. They leave bugs on the front, obviously-missed dirt spots on the roof, and water drops on the seats and/or footwells. I don't like the idea of dishing out $15 to have my car not cleaned.

Sometimes I'll do the gas station $3 wash with fillup thing, then go straight home and spot-clean the bugs off -- that's usually a better clean than the carwash places, except it doesn't get vacuumed that way. I'm about ready to buy a 50ft extension cord to handle that aspect, though.

Only in dead of winter and only to a touchless place. Otherwise, hand wash only.

 

Only went to a car wash once and that was a BIG mistake. I ended up with a damaged front wheel.

Spend that $15 @ costco and buy yourself a car washing detail kit. Do it yourself. I took my new car (thank god it wasn't my G) to a machine wash; came out with curbed rims and no payment for it.

Spend that $15 and 15mins to do it yourself. If you love your G, you would hand wash it.

Either that or find a place that hand washes only! With 100% terry cotton to dry it.

 

My problem is I'm in a townhome complex, and there really isn't a way for me to wash my car myself, unless I go to one of those self-power-sprayer things where you have to keep feeding the machine quarters. [img]/w3timages/icons/frown.gif[/img]

Do not goto a car wash. Why take the chance of damaging your G. First off, most of the places recycle the water. So there is always a fine grit that is in the water from before. Second, do you think they really care about your car??? Thats right, they don't, why risk it. Well I have to cut this message short. But my point is, why risk it....

I bought my G last winter and decided to use the so called softcloth car wash. Big mistake as I had fine scratches all over it the first time I ran it through. Zaino has helped, but the car wash won't do your finish any favors.
