No touch-ups "require" a clear coat on top, but almost all of them will look better if you use it. It doesn't have anything to do with the hardness of the paint, but with color matching the car (white is hardest) and protecting the pigmented paint from the sun. When I did my car's ~100 touchups I put one or two layers of cc on top of each one. Without it the touchups didn't match and my car is black, the easiest color to match.

Good Luck

I still get water splashed behind the wheels after going through some water.
I would never recommend buying them for protection to keep the car clean.

I have quite a few chips on my car and I only have 4,500 miles on it. I was going to get a clear bra, but oddly enough I have chips in places that wouldn't be covered anyway (rear part of the hood, roof, doors, quarter panel, trunk lid) My advice:
1. If you decide to fix the chip, let a professional do it. Some detail shops will do the entire car for a flat fee (I was quoted $75).
2. Get used to it . . . the G35 does not have the most durable paint.

i'm not sure i'd "just leave it." that attitude never pays dividends. rather, take care of it sooner rather than later and get some filler and touchup and get to work! can't be that hard lol
