do the oem rims have a clear coat? am I ruining them by dry wiping them?

 

Better yet...to make things easier...if $ is not an issue, how 'bout getting rid of your OEM pads & replace them w/ pads that don't dust nearly as much (that's what I'll be doing shortly).....then you won't have to wash them as much. I've done all my research already on this forum & will be getting the Hawk HPS pads.

 

If you can get the wheels spotless one time(clean them at a friends house, self serve car wash or at night when no one can see you at the apartment)Once they are clean put a sealant on them like Klasse,Zaino or Autoglym.Once they are protected then you can clean them with a detail spray every few days.

 

another good way of cleaning rims is using orange balst engine degreaser and a power washer. just psray on, wait and rinse. if you're lucky you will only need to scrub hardened dust.other than that it works fine

If they're lightly dusted, use a detail spray like Mequiar's Quick Detail or Mother's Showtime and a microfiber cloth.

If the brake dust is any heavier than that, you need to wash your car
