So is it necessary to change the engine oil at the 1st 1k mile?

necessary? no but alot of people think it is a good idea and do it. I did a first change early, the cost of an oil change is pretty cheap.

Certainly doesn't hurt. The first few oil changes exhibit plenty of wear metals and silicon from the manufacturing process.

I changed mine today at 640 miles. It's not nearly as hard as the DIY describes: remove only the 3 rightmost bolts on the belly pan and pull it down for access to the filter.

Oil change when..........

I changed the factory oil at 740 miles and started using Mobil l 5/30. That's
what I've done with my last two vehicles and it works for me. At 8,000 miles
I switched to 10/30 Mobil l, don't need thin oil in Calif.....

I had mine changed at 1200 and the dealer did it for free. Better to get out the break-in oil

I also changed before 1,000. The analysis have clearly shown a benefit to doing the first oil change way before the 3,000 mile mark. Why not be safe?
