Wiper Blades

I just noticed that Wal-Mart has RainX wiper blades.

Has anyone tried them, and how do they compare with the PIAA or Bosch?

They also have some Lexor ST silicon blades that guarantee a clean wipe for 100,000 miles.

Any opinions?

I know some that have had the PIAA have either loved them or hated them. Same with Bosch which I was going to try since more ppl seemed to really like them than not.

I like the RainX Glass treatment which I think I've used since the late '70s, and their blades seem of premium quality.

TIA for your thoughts.

i hate rain-x I've used Bosch but also like the OEM blades. I haven't had issues w/ my OEM blades. The Bosch blades I've used as replacements on other cars worked great... but Trico didn't seem to last very long.

You hate RainX Treatment, or their blades? I agree, the OEMs seem to have done well for me, but it's about time for replacements.

I have PIAA silicone(sp?) blades and I don't like them very much. They are less effective than stock IMO. I will try something different in the future.

Rain X glass treatment ownz all... just bad for traditional wipers... But if you use silicone wiper blades, you'll be fine...

I've found Bosch Microedge to be very good in the rainy Pacific NW. At least as good as OEM IMO.

I was considering the piaa blades, but I ended up ordering some Valeo Ultimate wiper blades from tirerack.com based on some opinions I heard. They work great. Just as good as oem, if not better. They are really pricey though. Also tirerack.com has the passenger blade size an inch smaller for my coupe than it's supposed to be. It still fits so It doesn't bother about the size, after all it's on the passenger side.

If you bought inserts, you can always buy an oversized piece and trim it down to fit.

Creator of Rain-X left them and came out with a new product called rain clear gel. The formula last much longer and does an even better job than Rain-X. Applies ten times easier as well and you don't have to do multiple coats or any of that stuff. For $5.99 you get the Rain Clear and a Glass Scrub. The Glass Scrub helps remove any contamination from your glass so the rain clear can effectively seal up any pores in the glass. I love this product so much, sorry had to share.

Yea I should've clarified earlier... I hate Rain-X the window treatment. Rain Clear is a much better product. As for wiper blades... mine are still good... I'll have to wait and see which ones to try out.

I also just got the rain clear gel, scrub and also the daily spray. I did not find it much easier to apply the gel, still hard to get that picture perfect clear shine with no haze etc. but it lasts a long time.

I've tried several different brands for the last 15 years or so and Bosch has been the best.
when I replace the wiper blades on my G in a few months, it'll be the Bosch blades.

How well does clear gel apply...
I like RainX, except for the way it leaves a streaky film for a few days.

If you haven't been doing so already, it helps to spray a light mist of water on the glass after applying the RainX. Then use a newspaper to buff out the haze. Makes it much easier this way.

BTW, I wouldn't mind trying the Rain Clear Gel. Does anyone know if it's available in Canada?
