Dont wax for 2 months?

Just got my car out of the body shop after some dumb, old lady backed into me. When I went to pick it up, the guy told me not to wax the car for 2 months. I've never heard of this before. I really wanna wax the car, but I'm afraid I might mess up the paint job they did somehow. Should I go ahead and wax it anyway, or should I hold off for 2 months like the guy said?

hold off for at least 1-2 months. In the meantime, you can wax the rest of your car just normal. The new paint needs some time to fully cure (a.k.a. set dry)
It all depends on how much sun exposure that area of your car gets that determines how long you have to wait. Its good to wait a full 2 months, just in case. The more sun exposure, the quicker the curing time will be.

Yes this is true... needs to cure.. lots of Sun... I let my coupe sit in the baking sun for 3 weeks when i first got it before appying Zaino.. Just in case there was an issue with the new paint off of the boats.... lol

Re: Dont wax for 2 months?

this is one of those often debated subjects . .

waxes can contain things that may be hard on fresh paint . . .

new cars of course are fine .. .chemical reaction and lots of time from factory to your driveway make it ok to do the day you get it home (the dealer has likely had it detailed anyways)

if you use certain products - you can do it a lot sooner - i zainoed a fresh paint black hood on day 7 - looked stunning . ..
