My dilemma: A filthy G or Car Wash

My back has been jacked up for the past 6 weeks and my physical therapist recommends I don't wash my car. Right now it's filthy from salt and dirt so I want it cleaned. There is a car wash that pulls the car through close to where I live and as much as I want to avoid using it I don't know if I can. It could be another month (or longer) before my back is healed. My car is black and the thought of scratches scares me. Is one trip through the car wash going to leave my G scratched up?

ok go to a car wash(not a drive thru) and get a hand wash. I would do that OR I would tell your wife/gf to prove their love to u by washing your car... lol

I wouldn't want my wife cleaning my car. Yours must do a better job.

We have some touchless (no brushes) car washes.
Some with the usual drive thru rails.

The best ones are touchless stationary..
drive in & the washer goes arround the car.

I think that the best solution would be to use a touchless car watch. Drive in and drive out. If one is not close to you then take the trip. its worth it.

Thanks everyone. I talked the wife into washing it (cost me lunch out). She knows how **** I am when washing my G and I'll be there explaining every step. I use 2 buckets (water/soap), 2 mitts (upper half/lower half) and a leaf blower to dry.

LOL be easy on her! Wow, you are pretty careful - best for you to avoid the drive-in washes given that.

For those recommending the touchless washes - I think those are next to worthless for getting road salt off. That crap needs to be washed off good. Actually, I think touchless washes are useless in general - all they do is get the dust and light dirt off. Anything more than that...gotta wash it.

Take it to a handwash spot and bring your OWN TOWELS....the scratches are from their old, dirt, low quality towels they use.

I personally would never let anyone else touch my car.

Touchless car wash - Some of those places use tons of chemicals to break down dirt (since it's touchless) and that can't be good on your ride.

Hand wash places - Have you seen how they wash your car??? I mean, those people use whatever wash mitt they have and wash the car from bottom to top and side to side!! That's horrible!! They're picking up all the dirt and grime on the bottom (where it collects the most) and scratching your paint on the top! Not only that, sometimes they drop the mitt and it goes right back on your car. In addition, the mitt is probably so worn already from so many other car washes. Anyhow, you get the point .

Harley, so since you asked your wife to do it and you're showing her to wash the car, you made the right move .
