Fast way to dry your car.

I'm sure many of you already know this but I learned this trick on another forum. It was from a guy named Gardiner and he suggested using a leaf blower to dry your car then dap up whatever drops remained with a towel. I've used this method twice and it's great. No more wiping and squeezing a chamois for me! Just posting it here as in FYI in case its never been brought up before. Try it!

Rob

Or you could just take it out to the freeway and bang the needle off the speed governor.

Yes, several of us already use leaf blowers. I've also found the leaf blower great when I drive in after a heavy rain. Most of the dirt is already suspended in the rain drops and when you blow them off, the car sometimes looks almost fresh washed! It can really extend the times between washes.

Re: Fast way to dry your car.

also, if you have a hose that has a removable type nozzle, so that a large "fountain" sort of comes out, you can put this about 1or 2 inches away from say the hood and let it build up a big lake type thing and move the hose still 1 to 2 inches above the hood surface from the top to the bottom.
The lake seems to take every little droplet with it and leaves very little left over to wipe up, also great for the doors etc and bumpers. It really does work, just be careful not to knick the paint.

of course, this is for the peeps without the leafblowers.

take care

Make sure the leaf blower is electric and not gas. Gas leaf blower route the exhaust through the blow stream. The last thing you want is a 2-cycle exhaust blown over your car's finish at 200 mph.

For what it's worth, I have a Stihl gas backback blower and the exhaust is routed out the back of the unit. Not sure about ones that are hand-held. I used it on my prior car with no ill effects.

Good point -- my Craftsman hand held routes through the blower tube. If that Stihl unit you have is the one I saw at my lawnmower dealer I'd figure a way to hook that baby up to the intake and create a 'new' method of forced induction. 300 mph must be the equivalent of several lbs of boost!

Re: Fast way to dry your car.

Leaf blower works. I accidently scratched my door though! It's all gone, nothing a little compound wouldn't fix. Oh and, Tim Allen rocks!!

Thanks - Joey Avino

Re: Fast way to dry your car.

My dad's air compessor (which is nearly as tall as I am) works wonders as well . We should all be so lucky huh? But really, the grill on this car is a pain if you don't have forced air drying of some sort. The sheeting water method works well too. In both cases you have to be careful not to scratch the car.

Concur with Dally- I read the same tip on a car care website- far less likely to scratch or ding anything, too. And of course- no wierd looks from the neighbours.
