If you are using a proper technique, wash as often as you like. Then again, if you are washing with dirty rags and 1200 grit sandpaper THEN you might be doing some paint damage.

During the winter, I wash my daily drivers 1-2 times a week without and issues. Sure, I get rushed sometimes and that ends up costing me as they sometimes need to be polished again in the Spring.

Do you actually believe that?!?!!? If not, don't give bad advice on this forum. If so, you are not well informed. I'd like you to tell me why washing your car 2x a week would be a bad thing for the paint. Keeping it clean actually protects the paint because it keeps contaminants and dirt off which can lead to damage and swirls/scratches, etc. If I had the time to wash my car that often I would do it. If you don't believe me, go to Autopia, the detailing forum.

^^ Good post.

I was about to chime in to state how misguided this thread was. Please research the information you give before you make false statements.

For those of you who are interested in learning the proper way to care for your paint there are few websites that will inundate you with information:

www.autopia.org
www.bettercarcare.com
www.meguiarsonline.com
www.autogeek.net
www.properautocare.com

I spend a great deal of time on the autopia forum because it is an EXCELLENT resource and the members are extremely helpful.

For y'all that have the darker colored vehicles the information you will learn from the research is invaluable since most imprefections are easily noticed on darker colors.

If you think that the "touchless" car washes will not cause spider webbing or hazing of your clearcoat you are mistaken. It's kind of like sandblasting your finish when you use the high pressure nozzles pointed directly at the surface. Dirt sitting on the surface can not escape. When you wash your car using proper techniques you will have a mitt that will capture dirt instead of dragging it across the surface.
