Car Washing

How many of you run your G through the car wash machine?

- i have a black coupe and its starting to be a real pain to clean it myself twice a week, mostly because i work 6 days a week and i suck at washing cars ...but im worried to run it through a car wash machine, afraid it might cause major hair-line scratches esp. on a black car.

go to touchless car washes ... they use high pressure water jets to clean the car. Until i receive my 06 coupe, im still with my infiniti qx4 which is black... i've almost always used touchless car washes and it still looks as good as the day i got it.

You just answered your own question, don't take it through an auto wash.

Try washing once a week and take 5 minutes daily to dust off using the California Duster. If it doesn't rain, you can go as long as 2 weeks just by dusting.

What do you all think of the ones with mostly high pressure sprayers, but does have the big things hanging down that drag over the car. Reason I ask is becuase the one here locally hand dries it afterwards and does a great job on detailing??

you should try some zaino products. Its a long process to apply the stuff, but it makes your car look NICE. Back to the point, zaino makes the car very easy to clean off. You can just rinse the car off, or just dust it when it gets dusty. As long as it don't rain, you're good to go.

I do the same thing with the California Duster. I also use Poorboy's Spray and Wipe Waterless Wash in between washes after I dust. I never go to a car wash, because I don't like cheap towels they use to dry the car. Also, the machines that wash your car seem too abrasive, and with the soft paint that we have on our cars, its too risky and may scratch.

Plus, why sacrifice our nice cars to the cheap soap / wax that they use?

Out here there are like 20 auto car washes i would never ever go to,

there is one really nice one though that has a Soft Cloth Wash Machine, so only soft microfiber touches the car and they clean the machine frequently to keep harmful stuff from building up on the cloths. that place rocks, but i still wash myself!

A touch free car should be fine on your car.... I have a black car and thats all I use.....I don't have the time to wash my car by hand......

Let's begin with the obvious.....Black paint ya gotta
have a great wax job! Stay away from those car
washes.....they'll destroy your paint. Talk to other
people that care about their cars, find a mobil car
wash guy that will come to your workplace. Let
him or her know how you want your car taken care
of. I never use soap (ca.) because it washes my
wax off. AND, your car will stay cleaner if you
buy and "USE" a carcover. I always get mine from
California carcover. I've covered my cars for over
20 yrs and keeping them covered was a lifesaver.
