I don't know if all you guys have this on your G's. But the dealers here in the Midwest (I've noticed that they don't do this out west) put thier Dealer Names on the car, either as a badge of some sort or by tape. Well I was washing the car, and noticed that my dealer tag was pealing a little, and since I hate it, I decided to go with it and pealed the whole thing off. Now the problem is that in this process some of the glue got left behind (glue from tape). How do I get the glue off my car without hurting the paint....normally i would sure a paint thinner or nail polish remover, but not on the G....

Search for "debadging" or "debadge" on this site. Taking the dealer tags off is basically the same as taking off the INFINITI or G35 tags.

I hate those things. Luckily, my dealership uses the plastic license plate frames.

Some dealerships actually paint their name on the trunklid. That would undo the sale for me.

the orange citrus cleaners (zep makes one) will cut thtough that adhesive goo and not damage the paint or finish.

or lighter fluid, wd40 also works as well. make sure to clean area afterwards!

 

GooGone, baby. Gotta love that stuff.... if any dealer painted their logo on my car, that would end my sale. They just give us plastic license plate frames, as Dreyer and Reinbold is the only dealer within 100 miles of Indidnapolis, so as long as they know it's an infiniti, D&R is set.

Shameless Plug: BTW, they are the best dealer I've ever dealt with for any car-- We bought an FX with 18" wheels, they traded them up for 21" for free after the car had been delivered. They said it was a b-day gift for my mom. Pretty sweet...

You midwest people should all state that you will not accept delivery of the car unless there is NO DEALER TAG. If everyone did this, then maybe they wouldn't be so prevalent.

Californians are so **** about our cars, the dealers know better. hehehehe

Oh - and I second the Goo Gone suggestion. It works miracles - sometimes you need to let it set for a few minutes, however.

from chicago here and was very surprised to find out that mine came without the stupid dealer tag. got mine from fields infiniti. hate their service department though, but that's another story.

aww that stinks. mine didn't come with a tag, but a plate holder with the dealer's name. they're pretty well-known here since they also own the bmw dealership. they are decent but i'd have to say my mom's benz dealer is the best i've ever heard of.

To remove dealer tags AND help out future customers of dealership:

Step 1) Go in to dealer, say "this is for the stupid tag" and punch out the manager.

Step 2) Dental floss, Goo Gone, and light rubbing (that's for the car-- not the manager)
