Zaino Vs. Crystal Guard?

I want to protect my paint, but i'm not sure how to do that. i've read a lot about Zaino and Crystal Guard, but i'm still not sure which would be best. from what i've read, Zaino is basically a VERY extensive car wash, whereas Crystal Guard is basically a thin clear coat. am i right?
Crystal Guard sounds like what i'd want to do, but not sure. Thanks for any help!

Re: Zaino Vs. Crystal Guard?

This debate is as old as time itself Zaino's amazing, gets you a great shine, and is great at removing swirl marks, spider webs, etc. CG is much harder than Zaino on the mohs scale, meaning it will protect from minor scratches a little better, and the shine seems to last a little longer.

No one has done a side-by-side comparison yet. I was aboutto do once when my G had an unfortunate accident. Now I've got a new hood, and I can't wax/CG it for 90 days... AGH!

People who like one, usually are loyal to it. Go to Zaino's website and read up, then go to crystal guard's and do the same. Look at cars treated with both, etc. and just see what you like. Run a search with Crystal Guard and Zaino in the search field, and make sure you select "AND" on the drop-down menu. Best of luck, and have fun,
G

Re: Zaino Vs. Crystal Guard?

I saw a CG demo at the massive car show in Pleasanton, CA a few weeks ago. I picked some up and am on my 2nd coat now. No swirl marks are visible at all, and the shine is great. It's very easy to use and the $35 I spent on the bottle will probably last me a year.

I was a hardcore detailer for many years (restoring/showing/selling '64-'66 Mustang convertibles), and have used a myriad of products. For three straight years I was hooked on Maguire's 3-step wash, glaze, wax product line, but man was that a lot of work.

So far so good on the Crystal Guard; I'm very impressed with both the ease of use and the fantastic results. I've never tried Zaino, but have heard a lot about it.

So you can buy the Crystal Guard only on the internet or even at local stores?

I took a nice pic of the trees here... off of the hood of our FX. I CG'ed it a week and a half ago, so I just ran a California duster over it, and took the pics. The whole CG process took ~30 min.

Smile for the camera.

That's it... you can get CG off of their website (look left under Sponsors). Happy shining,

Re: Zaino Vs. Crystal Guard?

Interesting... Haven't tried it... but also don't think I will Sounds like 10 hours of work for a slight improvement in shine.

Re: Zaino Vs. Crystal Guard?

So far CG is holding up for me. No swirls on my car at all. I'll do quarterly reports on it and post them in the Details forum. I'll post pics too, but can't from work here, I think the upload is blocked.

Re: Zaino Vs. Crystal Guard?

CG can last anywhere from 2/3 months all the way up to 8 (as advertized- I need to test that). I put it on my G 3-4 months ago and it's still shining, I just run a Cali duster over it. I'm planning on Re-CGing it once the paint on my hood cures, but that's a month or two away.
