Just got my car body MING'd
Just wanted to share my experience with getting my car boyd Ming'd. The company is called MING, and they have a few types of packages. Only one i was interested was the paint protection. PRetty much, they clean and buff ur whole car first. Than, they apply heat and a sealant to flatten out all the pores on your paint, and safeguards ur paint by "retarding fading, oxidation and loss of gloss thus eliminating the need to wax or polish your vehicle for the time length of the warranty." So, all those peaks and valleys on ur car body paint, from the spray painting process when ur car was manufactured, are supposedly flattened/sealed, thus no longer allowing dirt to get stuck in between. SO, ur car is supposed to feel/look like it was just waxed, simply after washign ur car with ur standard soap. Thats the gist of their claim. ( and yes, if u choose to apply wax to ur car after the ming process, u will void ur warranty and damage the sealant)
NOW, i just got it done, after much research, and askign some people who have gotten it done and hearing very satisfied results. PRiced here in Salt lake at $290, though in san antionio, TX its only $195. But anyways, turns out, the HQ is in Salt Lake, and the President of the whoel company, has his office at the MING shop i went to. SO we got talking and going over the process and the "guarantee/warranty". Since my car is under 6 months old, i have a 7 year warranty, that if any part of my body paint loses its glossiness or oxidation, MING will will clean, repair and replace, and reapply the treatment for free of course. At any of its locatiosn in the USA and the world, since its supposedly worldwide. I was quite skeptical, but if thats the warranty, and the owner (Mark D. Cunha) seemed pretty creditable, knowledeable, and just seemed to be a honest guy. AFter my talk with him, i couldnt' resist. Plus, he said if i ever run into any problem at any MING shop, just call his cell phone, and he'll make sure its straightened out. SO, i laid down the cash, and hopefully made a wise investment.
First impression. . . immediatley, it looks like the car was just freshly waxed, and runnign my hands along it, it felt just as smooth as a wax/buff job. What i def noticed, was all the poor-*** buff jobs that the infiniti dealership screwed up after scrathign my car during service, the uneven lighting that the ****ty buff job had done to certain parts of my car, were gone, and evened out. IT jsut seemed shiny, so, i was happy. Now, only been 2 days, it rained and snowed here these past 2 days. Snowed like 14 inches! I wiped a portion of the snow/rain off, with a micro-fiber cloth, and felt teh surface. Still just as smooth and shiny. That was the extrememly short-termed test. . .gotta now wait a week at least to wash it, and see the results. Than a few weeks. . .few months. . .years. .. and we shall see the results. . .if the guarantee/waranty holds up, i'd def recommend it. if not, than i'm sure if anything, it'l last longer than a regular buff job, so $$ will be saved there! As far as credibility, yes, infiniti, lexus, among other car dealerships do offer this as a extra package, at a extra cost for course. Hopefully that means something.
Anybody else get this done on their car? or heard about it?
