My longest detail day ever!

Decided to take a day off and do some spring cleaning since the weather was perfect, party cloudy and 70 degrees. Brewed a big pot o' coffee and had a couple Monster Energy drinks to keep me rollin'.

Started at 9am:
2 bucket Wash (clean wheels/tires/wheel wells)
Clay entire car and glass
2 bucket Wash
Taped off car to keep Sonus out of the cracks
Sonus Paintwork Cleanser applied with Porter
Z2/Z5/Z6
Z2/Z5/Z6
Z2/Z5/Z8 (in progess)

Took a couple hours off in between. It's 9pm and I'm ready to take off the last coat of Z2, apply the Z5 and grand finale spray. The worst part is I still have not touched the lower areas of the car. Car looks great, but I'm wiped out!

Thanks to Picus for the quick answer. I knew he would probably be the first to respond.

Haha, give the guy a break - I am sure he'll get pics tomorrow. His back probably feels like it got caught in a blender right now.

i think you might have overdone it w/ the z2/z5. i thought sal only recommended 3 applications per 24hrs tops.

Garage pics would not do the car justice...I'll try and get some tomorrow. As far as too many applications you may be right, but I'll double check.

So when I read the below info from the Zaino website I see Z2 (with ZFX) and Z5 and a mist of Z6 as a coat, but maybe I should email Sal to clarify.

The Wait is Over!
Zaino ZFX™ Show Car Polish accelerator solves the wait problem. We worked for several years to engineer a molecular reaction that causes the polymers in Zaino Show Car Polish to set rapidly. Using ZFX™ with your choice of Z-2 PRO, Z-3 or Z-5 Show Car Polish, it is now possible to apply two or three coats of polish in a single day to create beautiful show car special effects. The result is nothing less than stunning.

Note: Apply no more than three coats of Zaino Show Car Polish enabled with ZFX™ in a 24 hour period. For optimum results, use your ZFX™ enabled polish within 6 hours of mixing. Use a fresh cotton buffing towel for removal of each coat.

Z2 and Z5 are separate coats, but I still wouldn't worry - Sal just likes to play it safe on his site (which is understandable). Just know that you're on on sealant for at least 4 months. Just maintain with Z6.

Waiting to see pics. From the amount of work you did, I'm hoping your car is the cleanest on the forums.

Hey everyone, do you add ZFX to both Z2 and Z5 when your apply your Zaino. I only apply it to the Z2 and use the Z5 straight out the bottle. Also, is there a trick to posting larger photos...thumbnails would kinda be lame.

z2 and z5 are totally interchangeable (you can mix them if you want).

z5 is more for filling/hiding scratches and swirls. You could just use z5 for a coat or two and then switch to z2 for its higher optics. You dont have to go back and forth between z5 and z2.

The reason you dont want to do too many coats in a day is so that the Z5/z2 can setup and get hard. ZFX will speed up the process but you still shouldnt do more than 4 coats a day i would think.

The sprays add depth and make it easy to apply the next coat.

If you use them seperately you should add zfx to both. However now that your car has been "Zaino'd" you can actually forego the ZFX in the future if you're just applying one coat in 24 hours.

Larger photos is easy - find a hosting site (your own, photobucket, etc...) then do this:

["img]http://photobucket.com/mypictures.jpg[/img"]

without the quotes, and supply your own url.
