Quote: Squirt a dime size dab of polish on your applicator and rub it into your paint using circular hand motions. Then, go over the same area using a straight back and forth motion on top panels and an up and down motion on side panels.
So I thought you should NEVER use circular motions on a car. I've always applied Zaino in a back and forward motion.

Scroll down to the ZFX application area with the 4 steps...it's listed in step 2. Just seems strange they would recommend a circular motion. Would that not increase your chance of getting swirls?

I guess the theory being that you are using a clean applicator and your paint is clean to begin with. The circular motion probably helps embed the product into all the crevasses of the clear coat. I'd have to check the instructions on my old bottle of ZFX to see if they changed them recently to this circular motion.
I wonder how you gonna force orbital polisher "spin" in back and forth motion....and if you are not careful in selecting hand applicator(steel wool for example) you will leave swirls in ANY direction-do not assume that "back and forth" is the way to go.
Personally I don't care-I do it in every possible direction and shape to ensure complete coverage of panel.

Zaino is not a polish (no abrasives), it won't cause swirl marks. Other things can cause swirls, like the applicator, or the towels, or the polisher, etc.
Zaino forms a "shell" on top of your paint. That's why you need a perfectly clean surface to start with. No need to "rub" it into your paint, just wipe it on(making complete coverage using the techniques described on the website) and wipe it off.
I have been using Zaino for almost 2 years and have been extremely happy with the look. Read all the tip and tricks and follow their directions and you should have the same results.

werd to what shooter said.
Also, maybe I'm the only one, but orbital buffers don't really make things easier or faster in my experience. I would really only use it if I wanted to use an abrasive product such as the 3M Swirl Mark Remover to "buff out" those pesky swirls and hairline scratches.
