Then on this note:

1. Probably I can just use my original PCB for a/c controls and have some kind of iPod adapter to connect to the system bypassing the head unit to play music? and hence leave the missing HU area empty or covered up. [I know this is untidy... but what if it works!]
Do we have an adapter that would plugin to the car's audio interface without a need of HU?

2. I can still use my original a/c controls and have HU mounted elsewhere?

Well, I might have to invest in JDM/metra or get my unit repaired. Although I have found JDM way to be a popular one around here.

with enough time you can do anything but its just as easy to go buy an aftermarket controller and call it a day

Sure.

1) But as of today JDMs seem to be heavily back ordered. So a lot of delay.
2) Need to invest in JDM as well as a Head Unit.

I want to know what the quickest and least expensive solution would seem like.
A this point, time is pretty tight. I am looking for a temporary dirty solution for about $0-200 total (since its temporary), which I should be able to complete in the next couple of days.

I am trying to figure out if the above is possible. Given that I have a bad Radio and/or PCB, I want to know if I could solve it by either

1) Buy an iPod adapter to play music, hook it up instead of the Bose HU and hope that a/c controls would resume working on factory controls. (This solution assumes that Bose HU was causing the mess all the while)

2) Buy a very basic HU (w/ or w/o iPod support) and replace Bose with it and hope that a/c controls would work fine.

So bottom-line, I am trying to figure out which component(s) is(are) causing this dreaded issue that I am facing. Is it the Bose HU or the PCB or both? I have read through the forum enough, and see the cause pointing in either direction, and hence the need for clarification. Most of the solutions are (obviously) for long term and permanent. I am working for a different goal here.

I'm interested in finding a place as well. My Bose CD player gave the "CD Err F0" the other day...
