new to dallas
I used to frequent the Practice Tee when I was at UTD, 1998-2000..
Me and UTD go WAAAAAAAAAY BACK...
Was on their first basketball team when I transferred from SMU in '98. Things have changed for REAL since I've been there.. I was there when they didn't even have a Gym.. They just had that blacktop that's across from the business school..
Used to sneak onto the intramural teams till like 2004.. (that's how I met my wife, she was a student and I was on a co-rec intrumural basketball team)... bwahahahahahah.. Now, my wife'll be finishing up her Speech Pathology Degree there so I might be picking her up at night, so you'll see me.. (funny how things make full circle huh?)
Chris, I feel ya on having a 40hr job in your field and saying BUMP IT!!! That's what I did, left my junior year, been working as a programmer since I was 19, and never looked back.. Now that I'm in management I decided to go back though and finish in Business.. Was a CS major. Haven't decided if I'm gonna wait till Collin County makes a 4 year school (next year I think) or if I'll transfer to UTD.. I've been taking classes the past 2 semesters.. I know I want my masters and PhD at SMU (my original school).. At this point, I don't think it matters where I get my bachelors from.
yeah.. UTD cops don't play at ALL.. They'll boot your ride in a MINUTE man..

Ha, that was me EXACTLY! I was at UTD for about 2.5 years and just said screw it. The job I had wasn't amazing, but I was learning 10x faster in a "real world" (term used loosely) example as opposed to a teacher talkin about how bad coding is a form of job security... pfft.
Moved to my current company at 21 and been here ever since. I've been a manager for the last 3.5 years and definitely enjoying every moment. That's cool that you're going back for business. I briefly considered it myself, but with this many years of experience, I just don't feel I'll learn anything new. Many of my projects have been financially significant and I've had the ability to work with some great minds that taught me more than I think I could ever learn from a class.

UTD Whoooosh!
Welcome to Dallas...
I'm another UTD Graduate x2...2003 Business MIS Undergrad...2005 MBA
There is a LOT of construction there since I first started in 1999. Man what a difference 10 years makes.

It was pretty good. I just did the part-time (night) program since I was working full-time. That was over 4 years ago, so Im sure it has grown even better. UTD is becoming well known in DFW, so that’s a good thing for us.
But if you have the time (and money) I would recommend the cohort or executive program at UTD. They are a lot more involved with the community and you get better connections.
However, if I had to do it over again, I would have actually foregone UTD's program and done the Executive MBA at SMU. I've had a few friends go through that program, and they loved it. They are very well connected in the DFW community, and they do a few trips around the world to show the different aspects of business. Plus with their "connections", having SMU E-MBA on your resume will help you a lot with finding work.
Im not bashing UTD's program at all. It was good and it has helped me tremendously. If I had the time and money to do it over, I think SMU has a slight advantage.

I think the UTD programs are about the same cost, maybe a little higher with the projects and trips. Its mostly about the time. Because the full time programs have day and weekend classes/project/meetings/etc.
SMU's executive program is HIGH. Probably more than twice the price of UTD.
But again, that is in comparison to over 4 years ago. Things might have changed now.
Will...have you priced it all lately?

I haven't really priced it out yet. I think SMU is way more, even for the part time program.
Where did you see a white G35 on UTD campus? I haven't been on campus in a few weeks.

hey guys sorry i just got a computer up and running but yes there is a driving range on waterview right behind campus and my first couple of days were pretty good the work load is alot cause im taking 16 hours and playing soccer. i drive a desert platinum coupe youll know its me if you see brembo stickies on the quarter window. also our mba program is really one of the best in texas and its def cheaper then SMU. also the damn construction is making my car soooo dirty =( i wanna wash it but its depressing when it just gets dirty again cause all the construction going on next to the new residence hall. there is a brilliant silver 06 coupe auto on the soccer team he doesnt take care of it at all though =( its heartbreaking to hear how he treats it and brags that he treats it that way. =( but now that im up here i want to try to make it to some meets if the soccer schedule allows me
