Waijai, you have a grounding kit yourself, are you saying make one and not purchase one? I'm sure you noticed a difference in shift lag as well.

Kwick, I got mine during his group buy, so I don't know what the actual price is since mine was so discounted.

I'm saying don't buy one and save your money.

I don't have one anymore. The cost benefit is extremely low in my opinion. I made one myself for a fraction of the cost of these "kits", as it's just 4 gauge wire with some ring terminals on the end. After a month of driving, the decrease in shift lag becomes totally transparent.

Does your driving experience increase that much more for the cost? Do you smile 2mm wider b/c of the crisper shifting? I view it as a "fix" for your modding addiction. It's just another toy and item on your modlist to say you aren't stock.

Yes, it does actually.. I enjoy the fact that the car is more responsive in manumatic mode as soon as I change gears, rather than having to wait those few milliseconds.

Actually I do smile everytime I shift and feel it respond as soon as I tell it to. Prolly MORE than 2mm.

Isn't every item that we put on our cars a "fix"?

Isn't that the point of modding? To get further away from stock and get closer to the final goal you've set for your car? Thus "de-modding" is going BACK to stock.

Well you've made a good purchase for yourself then. Your personal benefit is tangible and real.

The cost benefit is extremely low in my opinion.
Yeah de-modding is going back to stock. Because like you've said, it's a goal for you to achieve. Since I've reached my final goal and enjoyed the good times, the journey has run its course. Not sure what my de-modding has to do with Project: Alexis though?

Wasn't a personal assault by any means.. I was simply stating the definition.. Considering he's modding, it was relevant.

And since he's a part of this forum, hearing multiple points of view will help him come to his own decision on weather to buy a grounding kit or not.

One Hundred feet of wire for $80. I forgot how much a 5-wire kit was, but let's guesstimate at 10 feet. That's 10 kits worth of wire for $80.

Throw in some ring terminals at around $7 per kit along with some shrink wrap.

Around $20 max for materials.

I'm a hands on type of guy (aw jeah), so I don't mind making my own to save quite a bit of money. If you'd rather let someone else put in the work of measuring, cutting, crimping, and shrinking then by all means.

lol this seems to be the age-old debate among G drivers...to buy the grounding kit or not.

all things told, i believe that there is still shift lag (even with a kit). it is reduced somewhat, but it is still there. there are definitely times when i get a little irritated with my tranny.

if engine dress-up is your thing then it makes sense...and it does have some shifting improvement qualities. at the end of the day though, in my opinion, it is one of the more cosmetic mods. as a disclaimer, i DO have a kit from Sean. however, to each his own. at the end of the day, it's not going to break the bank, so just do whatever you want man.

don't forget - it's YOUR ride. don't let any of us totally sway you in any one direction man!
