Finally got around to doing the front brake pads today.. I have to say, that was probably the fastest, and most straight forward brake job I've ever done. Very nice.

Tomorrow, is detail day... VicariousVision and R1forever80, what products do you guys recommend for removal of light scratches and swirls when working with OB? I'll be ordering my P&C and buffing pads later today, and want to make sure I get the compounds I need as well.

I only use Zaino products...not quite sure what route you are wanting to take or how serious you are wanting to get. An aggressive pad will definitely help with swirls. I would personally recommend that you give Zaino a try.

Some claybar action wouldn't hurt either since this is the first time you'll be going after it.

I want to get rid of every little scratch and imperfection.. Like all the scratches around the door handles from finger nails and keys.. I don't have any big gouges in the paint or anything, but I do have scratches in the clear that I would like to get rid of. Maybe Z18, ZPC, ZAIO, and Z5 with some yellow and white pads?

that sounds like an excellent approach. finish it off with some Z-8 and you wont know what to do with yourself.

No offense to others that post here, but is there any way to change the name of this thread to include "DFW"? This is a DFW subforum after all...

hah, that was quick. I think a mod would have to do it. I tried, but it only changes the title in the first post, not the entire thread.

I only use 3m products. If i have any scratchs i wetsand them out with 1500 then 2000 grit sandpaper. I buff the whole car and the scratchs that i just created with a wool pad and xcut compound. then rinse car off. then with the white sponge pad the regular compound. rinse off then black sponge pad and machine polish. rinse then xfine polish/swirl free with blue sponge pad. wash whole car and use plum crazy polish by hand

I'll probably end up doing this to the wifes Murano.. She's tough on paint, and I think I have my work cut out for me with hers. I need to get a quote from you to get my front bumper and hood repainted. I guess the previous owner liked driving behind rock truck. If you can PM me price, I'd like to get it done sometime in the next few months. I need to get the wifes hood repainted too, same deal.
