You can find good prices on yellow tops if you search around. I think I picked mine up off of ebay. Had one in the maxima. That bad boy was so nice I didn't even need a cap for my stereo. The red top is great for cranking and stereos as well. The yellow top just has a little more of the deep cycle factor to really handle the heavy use for extended periods of time.

I just broke off a bolt that holds the heat shield on the passanger side to the (whatever it's connected to!)

I was going to just take the heat shield off after that but that top forward bolt is pretty impossible to get to without some serious takin apart stuff. So now I have a rattle in my engine bay until I get that situated. Maybe the broken off piece will vibrate it's way out of the mount.

Optima Battery quality isn't all that great, and if you're wanting a performance battery for audio demands I would go with something else.

I wasn't using a second battery.

I would only recommend a second battery if you were running your stereo with the car off for extended amounts of time. Just adding a second battery to have is just another load on your electrical system. It will not improve the performance of your car while it's running. What you really need is just a higher output alternator, Chris.

Beyond the stereo, what lighting is drawing more on your system? LEDs are less of a draw... confused
