Ok, I know I always pick on you guys for picking up things from HF, but this is an ABSOLUTE NO NO IN EVERY WAY SHAPE AND FORM!!!!!

Torque wrenches exist for a reason and they are meant to ensure quality and precision. Cheap tools are not quality and are rarely precise. The torque specs on something as important as your differential are very important for a reason and you want to torque that stuff down correctly. Spend the money and get the right tool for something as important as your drive train. Seriously, HF torque wrenches is a VERY BAD IDEA.

Meh - I have used HF tools for yrs..with no issues.. I will put my shiet up to the pepsi challenge on anything out there with full confidence that it will meet or exceed my expectations..

Ive broken kobalt and craftsman - really all tools break.. HF is close to me and have lifetime warranty as well - just like any other tool that you can return if it breaks..

....my bad lolz and only tip I have is on torque wrenches to always reset to 0 and many torque wrenches from Kobalt and Craftsman only have 1 yr warranty and not lifetime. These companies are shady and need to look into the details to see if it applies. I was gonna buy craftsmen torque wrench for over 50% off but passed last week.

HARBOR FREIGHT DIGITAL

edit: FROM SLICKDEAL

http://slickdeals.net/forums/showpos...&postcount=139

Everyone is referring to the Harbor Freight (HF) torque wrench as the Harbor Freight torque wrench. It's a Pittsburg Pro that is sold in Harbor Freight stores. I don't know if HF manufactures it or not, but just wanted to clarify this. Just because it's sold at Harbor Freight doesn't automatically mean it's junk, just like not every single item sold at Ikea is junk.

I completely agree that all tools break, definitely no argument there... but I wouldn't trust cheap tools when you're talking about torque wrenches or anything else that requires precision especially... tools like that require regular calibration anyway and are less likely to be as accurate due to the less than stellar QA process they are put through (which is why they are cheaper to begin with)

Jake you are my homie (NO HOMO)...i got special coupons just for you....

MULTIPLE 20% off print on 8.5 x 11

http://slickdeals.net/forums/showthr...id=0&t=1276399

Also they should have a stack of 25% off coupons by the register for 4th of july sale. Heck a digital torque wrench for $44.50 is a steal and alright in my book even if i throw it away after couple years and upgrade. I would just Zero it out and check for accuracy and calibrate accordingly.

I don't think HF actually manufactures anything they sell.. but I could be wrong there. And I don't hate HF or their tools, I just prefer quality when it's required. And it doesn't matter to me who manufactures it, HF or Pittsburgh Pro, it's still a cheap tool and cheap tools are cheap for a reason. The one set of Pittsburgh Pro tools I have broke on their first use.

Bluebob, we all get ur point but I don't think anyone really listens. I have heard that craftsmen doesn't warranty their torque wrenchs. I'm opting to pick up my torque wrenches from the snapon truck

Craftsman does NOT warranty torque wrenches. Found that out when I was trying to trade in a bunch when I was in the military.

I guess the actual mechanism inside them isn't craftsman.

Craftsman will repair them tho...at a cost :/

exactly. I've been a fan of Craftsman tools with a few exceptions. one being that they don't warranty ALL of their tools, just most hand tools and sockets.

AND...FWIW. The harbor freight torque wrenches claim to be accurate within a percentage of what you're torquing at.

I compared a PMEL calibrated Snap-on torque wrench with the exact same range as a harbor freight torque wrench and the HF wrench was off by over 15 lb/ft.

you always get what you pay for, sadly.

[QUOTE=faiz23;5960525]Man oh man are you oh so close. I ended up hunting all over town for this FRAM FRESHBREEZE CABIN FILTER. OH man my car stank like dirty gym socks when I turned on the HVAC system. I wanted to look into some sort of HVAC Cleaning setup since I planed to swap out the filter. I did not want to go with stock filter and this was the best filter in town that I could get my hand on. It came from O'reilly for $19.99 and has arm and hammer baking soda and anactivated CARBON layer to clean up the air and kill bad odor.

yea, I bought my craftsman for a great price, but didn't know about the warranty part until after the fact... i too would buy one from snap-on or Mac, but I just don't think I could afford one... haha

definitely better than an HF one though... or at least I feel better knowing what I'm doing is probably more accurate.... and when have I ever cared if anyone listened to me... take my statement however you want... doesn't change the facts
