I interpreted it as meaning that the motor mounts will cause rattling when the engine/clutch is in a state of transition, i.e. the clutch partially engaged/disengaged from shifting to/from a gear.

Ah.. the reason I got an AT...

Told you these guys knew what they were talkin about Mach..
I think my signature makes my opinion on this topic quite clear.

Don't let it scare you. Just because it "wears" to the point of chatter does not mean it's about to give out. BTW, my clutch is also harder to depress than my previous cars. Mine's been making that chatter for the past 3 years. Clutch still grabs strong, and I'm at 81K miles now. At 50K miles, the dealer said I should replace my "worn" clutch. I think I have at least another 10K miles left in it....
Yes manual transmissions are incredibly robust, but costs on automatics have come down and performance has improved to the point where it's only worth getting stick if you're a stubborn *S*O*B*.

you can get the act clutch and streetlight fly wheel for around a grand
you can get the jwt clutch kit for around 750 I dont remember what clutch that comes with.
the labor is an average of what guys are charging to do it around me which is in va so Ive seen it as low as 350 and as high as 500.
the stainless line will improve pedal feel, and it does not expand under etreme
conditions, and since there in there it makes sense
the pivot bolt is what holds is what provides the leverage when you shift its what the shift fork connects to, its cheap and in some rare cases they will break if you drive hard so it makes sense to change it while your in there.
another good reason to go after market on the flywheel is so you can resurface the flywheel, the stock is dual mass and can't be resurfaced for the life of the flywheel like aftermarket. I ended up paying 1200 for everything, I wouldn't go to light on the fly wheel though, its a pita in traffic.
hope this helps.
If your near virginia I can hook you up w/ a couple shops.

I am mad that I'm seeing the demise of the manual transmission. Even the chaps on Top Gear are driving more automatics.

So, mach2 and I met today at a meet and his chatter sounds exactly like mine... so its either that it's totally normal OR we both need a new clutch. LOL

most likely it's normal. Mine has always had chatter at idle and especially upon shut down. I even reviewed a 2010 G37 convertible recently, and it had chatter as well. To a degree, it's just how Nissan builds them and why a lot of the reviews of the G/Z complain about them being noisy. They're a bit more "mechanical" than some cars.

^ yes, i think u are correct. our chatters were identical during shut down... and as far as i remember, i have always had it.
i think the g35 is built like that on purpose, to get more of a "feel" of the engine in your hands.

^ let me guess.. ex honda guys.

the chatter is perfectly normal for nissan manual trans due to the dual mass. I have the JWT clutch and flywheel now. It's loud and makes me proud. don't worry about it until it slips!

Exact issues I have, Was told its normal by people on here as well as co-workers that have the same car.

If I let off the clutch wierd when driving I can get a noise, While driving near a wall where I can hear an echo I get a noise.

And if I shut the car off with the clutch in its dead silent ( like it should be )

Shut off with clutch out and it sounds like marbles in my engine/transmission.

Embarrassing for a 30+k dollar car but assured time and time again its nothing to worry about. Car drives shifts and grabs perfect ( only 24k miles )

03' track... Soon to be race car.
You have no idea how many clients i have coming in complaining of the exact same issue. I assure you My G doest the same thing. The dual mass flywheel while in theory sounds good(its supposed t help reduce shock when shifting gears) is completely un-necessary. Long story short, its normal....and there is nothing wrong.
