Mercedes power in a G?

I doubt they will get rid of the vq series of motors.

a 4 cyl in a car this size (or larger)? doesn't sound right. i could see a hybrid model or something like that, but Nissan already makes a good 4 cylinder engine as it is...i really feel like this is only half of the story.

Nissan is going to have to put the G on a major diet if it wants to get good milage out of 4 banger in a G. The problem is the I4 is working so hard to move all that weight around the mpg are going to be just a little better then they are now. I am with you VV there has to be more to this.

Agreed. However, we are all assuming that they are looking to incorporate this with the G (which was never actually stated). Perhaps they are going for a small size hybrid car? Even then, this still doesn't make any sense to me. Or maybe a diesel?
