Why would you go with an LS1 when you could drop the Nissan V8 in?

From what I have heard thats pretty much a straight bolt in. I have not done much research into that so I could be wrong, but I would be looking in that direction if I were you.

wouldn't i still need to mod the firewall? the nissan v8 doesn't have the aftermarket support like the ls1/ls2

Another suggestion would be to talk with the 240z/280z guys. They drop 350 cu" chevy blocks regularly. You can get some nasty hp with a classic engine build. I'm willing to help turn some wrenches with this project. Make it happen dude! You'll have the cash if you don't party hard for just one weekend. drop the credit card Woodstock.
