Correct me if I am wrong, but I believe Waijai must have spent more than that on his mods... cuse I have definitely spent more than that on mods. 2 sets of Volks and almost all new mods will do that.

^ Oh, I know he has. I was just saying that if he (GShadyZ) wants to see what $10k+ worth of mods looks like to go look at Will's. (In other words, just pointing out that Trix's car does NOT have anywhere near $10k in mods).

May not be quite $10k but if you consider every thing someones added to the car including tires and wheels, multiple exhaust setups, audio, custom paint, it could all add up pretty quickly. I know if I included the cost of installation at local shops mine would be much closer to $10k. I guess thats the beauty of trusting yourself enough, or having knowledge enough to install mods yourself.

But I suppose you cant consider a guy installing your spacer for $150 to be a $150 worth of mods..

^ Haha, we all know who Jared is (hence why we all find his Craigs List posting so hilarious). I did a rough breakout in my head and no matter how conservative I am with pricing, there is NO WAY that he is anywhere near $10k.

If he sells it for $24k, then good for him. I feel sorry for the schmuck who pays that much, but I guess that there will always be stupid people out there.

Yeah you never know what someone, or someone's daddy will pay for a car. Make's me want to just list mine at $20k or so, run a continual ad, and see if somebody will pay it. I wouldn't mind picking up a V36.

I don't think you can fairly ask someone to pay for your multiple choices in exhaust or for how much it cost to install a mod... All you should quote is the depreciated fair market value of the mods that were added to the car if you're going to itemize the price of your mods.. Basically, what you'd get for them on here if you sold those parts used. Certain items hold their value (like BBK, and FI mods) but others you might as well buy new so what you paid for them new is negligible.. You're buying the car used, and used mods as well, so getting back what you paid on your mods is highly unlikely...

You will never recoup anything close to what fair market value is for your mods added on top of the price of the car. Paid $5000 for a supercharger? You might be able to add $500 or maybe even $1000 to the price of the car and get away with it.

could not agree more.... same with a house... "mods" or improvements just give it an edge, but don't actually raise the value... sad but true (metallica playing in my head now)

I agree, I wasn't justifying it. Just trying to make sense of why I see this more and more often. I found an 08 G37S with 42k, 20" wheels and Greddy exhaust for what hes asking. Makes me laugh.

My bad, didn't mean to make it seem as if I was attacking you personally... Just used your quote as the basis of my point..

but yeah... but like you said.. If you don't try it, no one will spend that much for it..

Then again, he might just be using that number as a bargaining strategy to start high, and sell somewhere closer to 16-18k rather than if he started at 20 and someone offered 14k or 15k.

WE know better, cuz of centralized sources of info like this forum.. But most folks don't even come to this forum till AFTER they've acquired a G. I know I didn't... I wonder how much better of a purchase I'd have made if I'd come to this forum prior to buying a G.

An uneducated buyer might think those mods were hella expensive by the adjectives he used like "custom" and what not.. When I think of "custom", I think of "only made to fit one car", "limited", "exclusive" or something like that, the exact opposite of "bolt-on", "mass-produced".

If I told you guys what I paid for my G, ya'll would hate me forever. 2003 G -> 2005 350z - > 2006 G and only made money off each deal. Same with the wife. 2001 Cadillac -> 2003 Q45 -> 2007 CTS -> 2008 FX35.
