So the dealer replaced my clutch and flywheel under warranty.

I did buy the car used (about 1.5 years before I bought it) but I won't pretend that I didn't slip some launches when I first got it. I no longer launch and drive pretty unaggressive since I got over the new car feel kind of thing.

Anyways I had been needing my belts changed which I was gonna attempt to do myself but I had a TPMS sensor going off and my tires were fine, plus the clutch pedal was getting stuck half way during high traffic driving or holding the clutch in for a second or two more than I should have when going on 1st. So I decided to just take it in and let them do the belts and check on the sensor and clutch.

I am at 50,000 miles and am about to run out of warranty next month (time frame). They called me back and said that they checked the tranny and the flywheel has hot spots on it and the clutch needed replacing. The clutch felt fine to me in normal driving and held fine so I was about to say to leave it when he said "we are gonna go ahead and replace them both and cover them under warranty". So I didn't relly ask questions and said ok. He said the flywheel showed spots and signs of abuse so just to take it easy. I just agreed and said I have learned alot in the past 2.5 years of ownership.

While I am very happy that I got a free clutch/flywheel job (from Infiniti) out of this, and I do drive much smoother now, it still left me a little bothered. The clutch is sooooo soft. Im not used to that at all. There is so little resistance that it feels like I have to learn my car all over again. Well not ALL over but def the first gear. Is a new clutch supposed to feel like that? Also it's not getting stuck but seems like there is a little bounce maybe at the end when it comes back up. Before it would get stuck to where I had to put my foot behind the pedal and lift for it to come back. Now it's past halfway almost up but it stops for like half a second and the pops up. On it's own, it doesnt need my assistance but it still stops for half a second. Could the master/slave cylinder have anything to do with it? That wouldn't get replaced automatically with a clutch job would it?

btw...hats off to the boys at Sewell Infiniti. I have some read some stories but I have always had great service from them.

the clutch pedal stuck half way has been explained to me by tekv35 that its just the lubricant on the pedal joints itself and jus needs extensive lubricating.. contact him to do it for you.. the rest sounds dope since it was covered under warranty.. was there anythin u payed out of pocket?

Just the belts. $160. Bad price for just belts but for new clutch, flywheel, belts, headlamps (apparently there was a service bulliten) and TPMS sensor I don't feel as bad.

03' track... Soon to be race car.
Sounds like they hooked you up...and yeah the pedal thing is more of a lubrication issue, thanks Eban. As far as it feeling soft, every clutch is a lil different, but yours isn't broken in yet. It should feel a lil more normal by your next oil change. As far as the master and slave go, no its not even necessary to open the hydraulics up to do a clutch job. However I highly recomend flushing them if you never have, the clutch hydraulic system in our cars are prone to developing problems if you don't stay on top of the fluid maintenance. Pm me if you need a hand.
