Locksmith or Dealer?

I need a spare remote programmed and key cut for my '08 G35 Sedan. I bought the intelligent key from ebay. I called few locksmiths and few of them said that I need to go to dealer as they don't have the software; 1 of them said they can do it for $100. Crest Infiniti quoted me $110. Shouldn't this be a lot cheaper thru a locksmith? Or does anyone know where I can get this programmed? Thanks.

A1 in Plano is the place to go, they quoted me 30 to cut the key and program the chip. 10 more if you want them to program the remote.

Keep in mind, all of your new and old remotes must be reprogrammed together. I got charged 130 at a dealership to program two Intelligent keys. That was after calling around to a few dealerships.

This was just for the plain dumb remotes and keys... Intelligent keys would be different.

So you can't just program one set of intelligent keys?

Yes, what I meant was if you have one working IK... and you buy another one... you have to have them both programed together.

Otherwise the old one will not work and only the new one will.

I went to A1 Locksmith in Plano and got my intelligent key programmed and cut for $30. He had to program my original and the spare (I purchased on Ebay for $30) as said above in the other posts. Crest Infiniti wanted $145 for cut and program...Sewell wanted $110. Way overpriced at dealerships!

nice man, glad I pointed you the right way. They do a good job on lock outs too. I use them for everything key related.
