01/01/2011 - Spent around 6 hours building a wiring harness from parts of the extra 05 cluster and the pigtail from the 08 cluster and the 08 unified meter. it's a mess, probably soldered/spliced/cut/heat shrinked 70 wires. Not to mention all the time I spent mapping out the wires from the service manuals. It was long and frustrating and it made me realize that not everything matched up perfectly like I had hoped.

01/02/2011 - did some more work on the adapter harness and I figured I should go try it to see if any of it functions.
Good News:
- It powers up, corresponds correctly with the key as far as power, accessory, ignition, and start.
- It shows fuel level and 'miles to go on tank'
- the lcd shows which door is open, and when the trunk is open with the image of the car (pretty cool)
- R/L Blinkers work, also shows high beams

Couldn't check:
- Tachometer
- Speedometer
- Temp
- Manual Mode

Bad News:
- Car doesn't start, I'm thinking its because of the Start Relay wire I wasn't able to pair up with anything on the new cluster, It tells the car it can start if it's in P or N, and not anything else, including open circuit.
- Can't find matches for 4 other wires, don't know how important they are (security and passenger seatbelt on new cluster) (start relay, stop lamp, neutral ECM on old cluster)
- Slip, VDC, ABS, Brake lights are all on, I can't find a place to put those wires on the new cluster

will put pics up when I get home.

lol I think I'm gonna take the infiniti tech test after this, I almost have the service manuals memorized and I know where every damn harness/connector is in the car.

Your projects speak quite a bit for themselves. Def a good reference in addition to it. I think with your knowledge you shouldn't sweat it.

yeah I found out when I was young that I have a hard time projecting what I really want to say, and It usually never comes out right.

I've always had a slight barrier communicating with people, not sure what it is exactly.

Sheesh, you have way too much time on your hands.

Be easier to just get something like:

Let the flaming begin! Lol....there once was a member on this forum trying to design these and sell them for like 150.00. I was one of the first to start working with him on designing the correct cluster setups for each year manual and auto. Needless to say he stopped communication for some reason and has never started backup and backed out because they were crappy.....this is for those with the big aluminum wings on there cars and bad offset Rims with euro tails and fart can exhaust. Def not for a g. The time and work rob puts in is innovation and trying new things to push the limitation with the older model g's!

And that is the difference between Rob and yourself. You'd rather spend the $50 on a crappy looking cluster board and Rob would rather spend the time learning how to integrate the G37 cluster into his G35.

Too much time on his hands? You may be right on that, but the project is his hobby and what he enjoys doing. Do you have a hobby that you enjoy doing? If so, then you also have too much time on your hands.

thanks guys, yeah, I disagree with gauge faces... it's a cheap and easy solution that makes your car look well, cheap and easy.

I like to push the bar and try to innovate, keep things fresh and be unique.

I don't have enough enough time, but the extra time I do, I like to spend working on the car. It is relaxing for me (usually.) And at the end of the day, I'm a bit of an attention *****, I love showing off.... and actually having something worth showing off, and knowing that I did it myself.
