New project: G37 Cluster
not currently. too many other projects took its place when I got held up on it.
my new theories for why it wont start are:
1. the two clusters I tried were for MT and not AT
reason being that I recently did a LED swap for someone with a 6MT cluster for g35s and when I tried it in my car it did the same thing, lit up and cranked but wouldn't start.
2. there is a security check that goes through the cluster, or some new form of code that isn't speaking correctly with the "older" ecu.. although the BCM seems to be read fine...

yeah I could buy another one, but i figured with buying two already one would be AT.. I think there also may be an issue with me not having intelligent key and push button start...
from what I can tell there is really no defining features on these clusters that would make one a AT or MT cluster. with the g35 the top lcd that indicated gears was missing in the 6MT, it just has a little rev light... in the g37 cluster they put everything on the big LCD so it's possible that something else in the car indicates its AT or MT, maybe the ECU??
I guess thats a possibility, maybe they changed these clusters to check the ECU for tranny style before loading up. If this is the case, I'm guessing that my "old" g35 ecu is not capable of sending that command, so it just sits there doing nothing.

Bummer,
Is there any way to convert the digital lines to something "understandable" I guess someone to create a micro processor ? (this would perhaps also help 2003 G35 ECU owners)

well the old cluster has CAN lines going to it... just remembered the new cluster talks to the unified meter and amp which has the CAN lines going to it. this unified meter and amp is partially integrated into the 05-06 cluster in the g35.
