If we get the reflash wouldn't the tuner be able to tune it if he had access to a cipher cable? Or do the cipher cables only work with one car?

 

Can you explain for the folks that are new to this what the Osiris is, and why a license is needed? So it'll be 300 for the tune, and then 300-500 for the license as well, for a total of 600-800 total?

 

that is correct tony. Osiris gives you the ability to tune on your stock ECU. The Nissan ECU is actually quite good from my research but before it was cracked, people had to use a UTEC or similar stand alone / piggy back ECU in order to tune. Uprev developed software that would allow you to tune on the stock ECU which retains all the stock driveability of our cars. makes everything more seamless.

if you look on uprevs site you can see what they have for consumers. there is the $300 Cipher, this gets you a cable for data logging and thats about it. The $500 Osiris Standard, which gets you a cable and allows people the ability to tune your ECU, and the $700 Tuner version which includes a cable and the ability for you to tune your own ECU. This version comes with software that unlocks ROM editing. You flash ROMs on your ECU after you have done all the tuning in order to change the factory parameters. Flashing the ROM writes the data to the ECU so when it looses power you still have your Tuned ROM.

Osiris is also cool because of the different maps you can create and switch through.

for example. I have a 93 octane tuned map for my first one, my second one is a Fuel Saver map, third is a Valet Mode map that doesn't allow the car to rev over 3k RPM or go over 20 MPH, 4th is a stock map. You can have up to 5 maps if you want.

cables are licensed through Uprev. a Cipher only cable can only do Cipher (data logging / clearing codes)

you can have a cable licensed for shop-tuning single ECU (standard version)
or you can have a cable licensed for self-tuning a single ecu (tuner version)

lastly they have a shop tuner cable available that you can load up with $300 licenses to sell to customers when they get tuned, this version is more expensive because of that ability. In this version the shop is the only one who gets a cable, they just flash everyone elses ECU.

hopefully this has cleared some things up.

 

Seems rather pricey... I think i'll wait til I get full bolt ons to make it worth it. I still need HFCs.

I don't see how saving $150 bucks and getting a tune from a great tuner is pricey but ok...

It will make it more 'worth it' if you are getting tuned on current mods and not planing on changing a lot for awhile.

the tune will only be at its finest on the parts it was tuned for. if you go changing stuff after the tune you will likely lose power.

Will he be able to give us the multiple maps? AWD wanted 75 dollars for each additional map; economy map, valet map, etc

 

I'm a test pipe away from this, guess I should get the grounding kit first as well :/
