What do you guys thing about this intake from Grubbs:

I've got a Z-tube and K&N but like the looks of this (I want to keep the K&N and stock air intake). How will the sound differ from the Z-tube (hopefully not quieter)? Since it's aluminum, will the heat retention be a problem? It doesn't have a brace to the side of the plenum which kind of bothers me. Grubbs says they sell a lot of them, but I can't find anyone that has one or has anything to say about them. Thanks!

Air won't be sitting idle within the tube long enough for heat soak to be a problem. Sound will be the same, and a brace really isn't needed. I have a Pro-1 pipe which is a little longer than the UT pipe, and mine doesn't have a brace either. Been about two years that I've had it on there w/o any problems.

Thanks, Moog. What's a Pro-1 pipe - never heard of that one?

Pro-1 is the product line of Top Speed Auto Accessory. They manufacture several different parts for the G/Z: intake, y-pipe, exhaust, camber arms, camshafts, short shifter, pullies, engine damper. I have an account w/ them, so I can get parts at a discount.

Grubbs doesn't manufacture this tube, Unlimited Tuning does. I just installed one on my G (along w/ a JWT filter). From what I hear, the sound is just about identical to the Z-tube...It basically just makes your engine bay look prettier IMO. I orderd mine from www.performancenissanparts.com and it came with two couplers, one for the plenum to pipe and one for the pipe to filter. It's a great addition and I am completely satisfied with the quality. You're probably in the same boat as me, you want the "performance" (sound) of a Z tube but would like something a little snazzier than the flat black. I'd say go for it.
