Drag wheels+tires --- my quest

I've been looking into getting a set of wheels and DRs or slicks. I thought about getting a set of local 16" mustang wheels for like $40, but it appears they are not going to fit.

I've also considered going with some old 93 rx7 wheels. But those are hard to find, if I don't want to pay and arm and a leg for them.

So I started doing some real research. I found the wheel I want. However, I don't know if it will fit, and secondly, they're $262.95 *each* from summit racing. The wheel is the mickey thompson ET Drag Wheel, sized 15x8. It only weights 11.5 pounds. They are available in a 5x4.5 bolt pattern(5x114.3). And they come with a 4 1/2 backspacing(whatever the hell that means). I don't know the offset.

The tire I would mate to that wheel is a micket thompson ET Drag, part# 3052. It's a 26x8.5 tire, with an overall diameter of 25.9 inches. And it only weighs 19 pounds.

Combined, that's only 31 pounds per wheel, compared to my current setup of roughly 49.5 pounds per. And these would be proper slicks.

The whole setup, minus shipping and mouting the tires, would be over $800. And I don't even know if they will fit.

I looked at wheels by motegi and enkei. The only 15's that I can find are all too skinny. There are a few 16's, but they're pretty skinny too.

Can anyone recommend another type of wheel that will fit?

Yo Trey...Check your email from me. ;-)

As for rims...I went with the 16" rims as you know...and they do fit my coupe out back where the single piston calipers will allow it...but up front 18s are the smallest I think...and out back I think 16 is it my friend. So from there...what ever weighs the least works the best. I got my set up from Discount Tire...mounted and balanced.
