Back from the track!

The weather forecast for this weekend looked promising, so I decided to make a few passes. As always, I knew traction would be my biggest obstacle to overcome with the crappy Bridgestone turanza tires. First pass 14.13 @ 101 with a 2.24 60' time in the right lane. I spun even though I was feathering the clutch. Tried the left lane and here's the result:

13.87 @ 101 2.05 60'

On my second pass of the day I got a new personal best. I know my car likes to be hot lapped, so I came around again. This time though I spun off the line and didn't even bother running it out and just coasted down the track.

After about hour spectating I decided to give it one more shot. I made a couple more passes with poor 60' times that resulted in low 14's. Next pass I drive around the water box as usual and slightly spin the tires to clean off debris. Light goes green and I feel the car pulling away nicely. I made sure that I didn't botch any shifts and knew this would be a good pass. Pull up to the timeslip booth and the young kid compliments my mph. I thanked him and asked about the et. He replied with a 13.84! I was stoked! Looked at the slip and here's the breakdown:

60... 2.042
330... 5.841
1/8... 8.943 @ 80.07
1000 ... 11.608
1/4 ... 13.844 @ 101.03

I always ask myself if I reached the limit with this set up. To be honest I think a 13.79 can be acheived with perfect conditions. With a set of slicks 13.50's are possible. Anyhow, I decided to call it quits for the day and just sit back and enjoy watching some racing.

Thanks everyone for the kind words.
My car is a 03 sedan with the 6 speed tranny. Tires used were the factory Bridgestone Turanza EL42 set to 30psi in the rear. Only item removed was the spare tire and running on less than 1/4 tank of fuel. Here are my best two passes of the day.

13.87 pass

13.84 pass

I'm just curious why are you trapping at 101 on stock? that's very interesting, I understand you hitting 13.84 with that 60's but 101mph for stock.?

I can tell you it was very cold! The temps were around 40F, pressure was about 30.1 " and humidity not sure.

Not sure what your asking? Trap speed is an indicator of how much power your car is making. Most G35's trap anywhere between 97-101 mph depending on whether auto or stick. Elevation and weather play a big role and when in your favour its like free horsepower

If this was Toronto Motorsports Park, his times are very believable. TMP is a pretty dang quick track in the cooler months. I know of a handful of Maximas from Maxima.org that post some of the best times in the country that run at TMP.

Assuming his runs were on Saturday afternoon, the conditions were in the low 40s, 25 degree dew point, 100' elevation, and a 30.45 baro pressure. The calculated density altitude was -1,700 feet. His car was making 108.5% power and the air density was 105%. If he were to correct his times to sea level conditions then his car would have run 14.10@99.02mph.

There's nothing freakish about his times. The stellar conditions were largely responsible for the above average times and trap speeds. People fail to realize the significance of conditions.

I frequent a lot of automotive boards and this time of year you read about new best times from everyone. This is due directly to weather conditions. Just this weekend someone with a stock C6 Z06 ran 10.85 @ 129 on drag radials in Maryland.

DaveB, the track elevation is 600' per IHRA specifications. The density altitude works out to about 1200' respectively. Nonetheless, it was a very good weekend for some stellar times!
