Toyota's new 5.7 liter racing engine.

Interesting call from my dear old friends.

The Toyota 5.7 liter in NHRA trim banged out 1287 hp with 972 torque@ 10252 rpm's.
And held an Crazy" 20 second 12870 rpm's for over 3 different dynO pulls.
The valve springs held 98% of there pressures's.
I'm thinking in Nascar racing, American small blocks are going to playing catch up.
Yep, it was on RACING GAS (NA)

I'm just not so sure what Dave Blaney, Michael Waltrip, Jeremy Mayfield and AJ Almendinger are going to be able accomplish even if Toyota's engine development is top-notch right out of the gate. Brian Vickers may be decent but I think it's going to take more than just good engines.

BUT I think it won't be long...they've done well in trucks and I'm a big Toyota fan (having owned 5 Toyotas including my wife's current Sequoia).

I think it's a PR motor. I read something awhile back that Toyota wanted to do NASCAR but didn't have a PR motor. So they went ahead and designed one from stratch. They said because they were coming from a clean sheet, they could design in improvements from the get go.

They didn't build one from scratch, they took the Ford and Chevy engines and took them apart to see what's up...
