Need to step up the game

1) Weight - right off the bat, the 02-03 Maxima only weighs 3,200lbs or roughly 200lbs less.
2) Knowledge - The Maxima crowd is well versed in what it takes to go fast and how to shed every last tenth of a second. The G35 crowd is far more concerned about style and looks. And frankly speaking, most in here are clueless about general automotive knowledge and principals. They buy mods blindly and believe what their told about the gains.
I use to own a modified Maxima for over 6 years and I know what they're capable of. The VQ35 swapped 95-99 4th gen Maximas are brutal with many in the mid to upper 12s thanks to their feather light weight of 2850-2950lbs. Turbo VQ30 4th gens are running 11.5-11.7@125mph. Most of the avid Maxima racers run slicks and that makes a huge difference and typically drop their 60 foots from the 2.1s into the lower 1.8s and sometimes 1.7s. A G35 on slicks should easily do 1.8s if not 1.7s. A bonestock 6MT G35 should easily cut a 13.5@101mph with just slicks which would be a record for this group. With a couple mods, you should be looking at 13.2-13.3@104mph. Sometimes I think I should just get a 6MT so I can prove to this group that these cars are more than capable of low 13s NA on slicks.

You're the one always beating on how crappy the MT's are in this car and how comparable the AT cars are.

I hate the way they drive and they seem to grind if you look at them cross-eyed, but if you want to go 13s stock, then the 6MT is the only way to do it. Since you can vary the launch rpm, you can take full advantage of a 5000rpm launch on slicks. The 5ATs are stuck at launching no higher than around 2500rpms and even then, there is some Nissan nanny holding back performance until about 3500rpms. If this Nanny didn't exist, I know my 03 5AT would be a solid .2 seconds quicker. Oh well.

C'mon, you should go for the MT so we can see if you can walk the talk.

I have more complaints about the clutch than the gearbox/shifter. For my locale and driving pleasure it still beats the AT by a country mile.

Back on topic, as a former 03 maxima owner, I'm glad to see it. I loved my maxima, but I would never go back.
