And I'd like to point out something about Cheryl's run. In my 160+ runs on street tires, I pulled maybe 12 to 15 2.1 sixty foots. She cut a 2.1 her first time out in a manual. Quite an accomplishment.

One more thing: this first run was better than any of her previous runs in her 04, ever.

Sounds like a redneck track that doesn't care about rider safety. My track requires a helmet, armored jacket, leather gloves, jeans (preferably armored pants) and boots. No exceptions. Any bike capable of running sub 11s requires the use of a fully armored suit. I've seen a handful of wrecks over the years and all the riders were able to get up and walk away.....slowly. Hopefully your track will rethink their rider safety policy.

Anyways, congrats on the new best. It sounds to me like the DRs need some more miles on them before they'll stick. The ideal psi should be around 18 cold, but you should experiment a few psi up and down at the track. Also, you only need to burn the DRs until you see smoke. Excessive burnouts can get them a bit too greasy.

As for Cheryl's 07, I'm a bit surprised by the trap speed. I would have surely thought it would go at least 101mph. I knew the ET would be so hot, but I thought the MPH would be better seeing that there are a couple "green" 350Zs pulling 103-104mph traps with about 1000-1,500 miles. Was she shifting at redline in every gear? Was she babying the shifts? I guess all that could account for about 2mph.

Dave, Steele gets some (undeserved IMO) notoriety for its conditions and the fact that is is usually open year-round(not this past year).

This place is a joke. On T&T' Fridays, they open at 9:00pm. They normally don't start running until at least 10. So the first hour is spent jockeying for spots in the staging lanes. You get there early to wait, so you don't have to wait later, if that makes any sense. I once asked a former employee about this timing approach, and she stated the guy that runs things was afraid that customers would be pissed to see cars running while they were waiting to pay at the gates.

And these guys don't know what prep means. On opening day this year, my buddy and I were the first street cars to go down the track for the season; lucky for us, it was prepped very well. But in all my trips to the track, that was the only day it was ever prepped. They normally open the gates, wait for an hour, bring out the tree, and start running. If you're lucky, they will sweep the pads. Except for that opening day, they've never once used VHT while I was there.

The facilities are awful. A local vortech 350z(03fiddy) had one run for the night(he got there early), and he got a flat tire on the return road. I've heard about that happening many times at this track. The staging pad was paved over the offseason for the first time in who knows how many years. And the end of the strip before the return road is full of cracked asphalt and potholes; something you learn to dodge with experience and don't want to hit at 100mph+. And the restrooms are a joke. I'll admit, I've never been to a track that had decent restrooms, but the men's room has three stalls, one of them even has a door, and two troughs. Of course, the building housing the bathroom has no lighting, ventilation, or doors. So in the summer it's very host, and in the winter it's very cold. And you have to **** in the dark.

This place also has no regard for safety. I've already mentioned the episode with the bike. Apparently they've had at least 4 bike wrecks this season, though I don't know how well outfitted the other drivers were. They have no tech-in or inspection of any kind. They let you wear anything. In contrast, Silverdollar in Georgia requires full length pants, and rolled up windows, even in the dead of summer. Steele lets anybody drive a car, and there isn't any form of registration. Silverdollar only lets one driver register per car. At Steele, you can have as many passengers as you like. They "recommend' that each person wears a seat belt. Helmets aren't required until you're in the 7's at the 1/8th. And a cage isn't required unless you're in the 9's in the 1/4.

And they have no form of crowd control. Spectators line the track, even within the rails. Spectators are allowed on the staging pad. In fact, for my lone run, I had to wait for spectators to get out of my way before I could go around the water box. This is typical of every run. And back to the topic of track prep, there wasn't any course official at the staging pad with a broom or hose. I had to use a little water left over from like 5 runs before me, while the sweeper was talking to some chick in a skirt back by the tower.

Sorry for the rant. I've been meaning to go off on this place for a while now.

BTW - When I was swapping my wheels back on at the end of the night, I noticed a wee bit of rubber along my rear splash guards. I've never encountered this before, and I imagine it's a result of the burnout. It makes perfect sense, but I had never considered this before.

Nice run, Trey... 13.6 at over 103mph is hauling for a NA G35, especially with only a 2.0 60 foot time.
