Got to run my friends stock, auto 06 G35 tonight…
I got to make 7 passes in my friends bone stock G tonight. Best run of the night ended up being a 15.1, I was a little disappointed, I was hoping to hit 14’s. I was brake torqing on the launches, but it was hard to get it perfect, it seemed to spin though first a lot, then once it hooked it started pulling hard. His car also has 19” rims, had about 3/4 of a tank of gas, and I didn’t try using trip-tronic, would that even matter? Temp was around 75 and the track is in Epping NH. Here is what the slip looks like for the run...
R/T: .681
60’: 2.541
330: 6.583
1/8: 9.908
MPH: 72.70
1000: 12.731
¼: 15.132
MPH: 95.10
I think the car has at least high 14's in it with a better launch.

Wait, are those your times or his? Either way, he (or you) needs practice.
Damn, those 60ft's are awful. Whatever that car was (Z or G), its capable of low 14's at that specific track with a good launch.
Also, remember, a high 13 second car can be a low 15 second car from track to track.
But in this case, it seems to be a medicre track with a bad driver.
Practice, practice, and practice!

Those stiff sidewalls on the 19s are killing the traction on the launch. A 2.5 60' is downright aweful. Honestly, I could cover the same distance running. Manually shifting in these cars is a necessity too because the 2-3 and 3-4 shifts occur too early and will hurt ET and MPH. You need to manually shift the into 3rd at around 6300rpms in 2nd and hold 3rd the entire run. Yes, you can hold 3rd the entire run. I've come close to 100mph in the 1/4 mile and I tapped the 6600rpm limiter right at the finish.
Launching with no brake stall will result in an easy, but dismal, 2.3 60 foot which alone will shed about .3 seconds in ET. Manually shift and you'll drop another .1 and add ~1.5mph. 14.6s@96mph with a 2.3 60 foot should be easily attainable. Put the 17s back on and the 60 foots will drop and there will be less rotating weight. 14.4s@97mph with a low 2.2/high 2.1 60 foot should be easy under the same conditions.

The stock 19's aren't going to necessarily stop you from getting good traction. I've seen many get 2.1 even 2.0 on stock and aftermarket 19's. (Although 17's would be more ideal for drag racing).
Just make sure to work on your launch and follow daveB's advise about shifting.
Trust me, everything comes with more experience. My 60ft's were as bad as these my first time at the track. Although i'm much better, im still struggling with consistency.

The 19’s came with the car, he does not have 17s for it, but I know those are not helping either. And I will try manually shifting if I ever get to run it again. And to clear any confusion I don’t own the car, my friend does, but I raced it last night, the owner weights 300 pounds and wanted me to run it to see if I could get better times, it was only my second time ever running a car at the track, my first I raced my old Jeep, mostly for fun and to get a feel for it.
BTW, same DaveB that used to be on maxima.org a lot?
Shhhhhh......or the stormtroopers will come out of the wood work.
Got to run it again tonight! Only got to make four passes but I did much better! Hit a 14.6 with a 2.2 60’. It was a little colder tonight too, around 68 degrees so that helped. I am pretty happy with the run, I think I could do a bit better, maybe a 14.4, but again I was pleased. Here are the details of the run…
R/T .478
60’ 2.236
330 6.180
1/8 9.448
MPH 74.02
1000 12.240
¼ 14.626
MPH 95.48
I used the off idle launch for this run and also turned off the traction control feature which seemed to help a lot. Although on another run, doing the same thing I spun like crazy and actually got the tail sideways and ran a horrid 16.3. Anyway fun times and I am glad I improved.
