Finally took the sedan to the track
i took my completely stock g35 to the track this pass saturday and got 16 runs most with passenger hitting aroudn 15.6 area(i myself weight 300 haha)..
anyhow the best two times i got was
r/t .291
60' 2.477
1/4 15.318
mph 93.82
and
r/t .495
60' 2.336
1/4 15.13
mph 92.63
Yeah i know my stock times sucked but the temps where 93-94 all day and I only gave the car a total of about 45 mins no drive time all day...and the rest jsut had the car on and in staging lines...haha
My sedan is 6mt and stock for an short intake version of the aem and i think that was killing top end as it gets realll hot....also I think i was having the issues problems with the hydraulic line getting to heated up plus my tires where losing traction haha....but all in all I had fun...Im going when they have another track day here in cali.
Hope if i take the g35s that it'd hit in the hi 14s
good times ckrug.

This all is VERY interesting. I have an 05 sport sedan 6spd that I will be taking to Gateway International Raceway in 2 weeks. The ONLY mod I have on the car is a drop in K&N filter and full synthetic oil. I was hoping with some practice to get low 15's.....

My car is a *dog* at one thousand rpms, even in first gear. Not so much at 1250, and it really picks up hard at 1500rpms. Even then, I don't hit the meat of my torque until about 3300rpms.
This is relevant. The last time at the track I tried running lower pressures than I had previously. I bogged like crap, even with high rpm launches. I bogged so bad that my rpms dropped to ~3000 rpms, if that high. First couple of passes I trapped in the 90's, with low 2.0 sixties, and that blew my mind. I've trapped as high as 102mph *with a passenger*. So I added 4psi(went back to 17). Same launch technique, rpms, clutch action, etc, netted me a better launch by a full tenth, I picked up 5 or 6 mph, and my et's dropped by almost a *full second*.
I figure that the bogging of the DR's that low was keeping me out of the power. When I increased the air pressure, I spun for the first 10 feet or so, but by the time I hooked I was > 4k rpms. That difference of 1000rpms in first gear really made a huge difference on the big end.
Plus - like me - he's got the jwt flywheel.

BTW, it's REALLY odd your car would loose so much trap speed simply because of bogging. None of my cars (Z28 4AT, Maxima 5MT, G35 5AT) and those that I've raced (lots of 5.0/4.6 Stangs, 6MT F-Bodies). When I've bogged the car off the line, my ETs aren't good, but MPH isn't influenced at all. Even when I've blown the tires off at the line, or through 1st, or into 2nd, MPH isn't affected a whole lot (maybe 1 to 1.5mph). I will say that I've never driven a car at the strip with a lightened flywheel so I may not understand it's influence on MPH. All I know about lightened flywheels is they making launching hard and consistently a total pain.
Does anyone know how Gateway's drag strip is rated as far as surface and prep?(good, bad, etc) When I go, I'll be with friends/family (with their cars)as well as a few local G guys from the forum here. I'm REALLY curious what times ill put down and it i can get under 15.00 I would be happy.

Thanks.......its supposed to be in the 80's during the day and down to the 70's the evening. Racing will start at 9pm going til 3am so I'm hopping to get some good runs Friday.
Stock tires will make it very frustrating to acheive low 60' times. Drag radials will help a lot and will be more consistent. Either way I feel you need to slip the clutch in order to get the power to the ground and not bog. Takes a lot of practice and a well prepped track definetely helps!
