DaveB - that was the firat time i had EVER taken a car to the strip (only bikes and ridden with a friend in a car) so green i am. lol you are also correct that the temp was HORRIBLE that night and with 300+ cars running that nite/morn, it was steaming sitting around in the lines.

i was the only G out there and got quite a bit of attention from people wanting to know what mods i had, what my times SHOULD be, etc. I plan to go back in Oct to see the difference it makes with MUCH cooler temps.

Yep, that's what sucks about the track.....the lines. I always get to the track 30-40 minutes early and I'm usually the first street car through tech and then I wait and park. When the lanes open, there are usually only 6 cars or so. For the first 20 to 30 minutes, I can run as often as I want. After that, it all slows down because of breakdowns, the bike racers, the junior dragsters, the 8 second cars taking 2 minutes to stage, etc. I'm usually out of there after the first hour because I hate waiting in line with an idling engine.

It sounds like you've got a lot of room for improvment. I think 14.4s should be no problem in October and I'd venture to say those numbers will probably be lower.

thanks man. all had a GREAT time just trying things out. the G got A LOT of attention......ALMOST as much as the IS 300 that was drifting!!

my BIGGEST concern once going down the track was the humidty. no matter what you did, the windows kept fogging up and i did not want to run the AC while going down the track. she pulled strong all the way down the track and i really felt no let up until i go off the gas.

I've gotten far more enjoyment out of racing my slower sport/luxury 4 door cars at the strip compared to my old Z28. No ones really expects a 4 door to be quick. When people see one hanging with some Stangs and F-bodies, people become really interested even though it's only running in the lower 14s.

you guys dont KNOW how much motivation that is to read! people like US buy cars to drive them and not just get from point A-B. i've tried to explain that to friends in the past why i raced my Dodge Ram, Honda Accord, Olds Cutlass, etc. its becase i bought it and i wanna see whats "she" can do!! i had more than one come up to me and just look at the car and say, "wow, that thing looked good going down the track".

the next Midnight Madness is the 29th if i'm not mistaken. it may be too hot (again) but that is the next all nighter. i just went to the website (Gateway's and the calander is down) so ill post test/tune dates that may work for us and other G guys to meet up.

also, check out the Regional section. we have a "st louis" crew we are tying to grow and had a mini meet this past saturday at Hooters in south county.
