1/4 mile timeslip questions

I ran my 03.5 sedan 6spd at the track last night for the first time. My car has stillen catback, stillen intake, 5/6 spacer, new plugs and grounding kit on stock 17's. The temp was in the mid 70's. I wasn't very happy with the results but I could use some practice. Anybody with experience, any comments could help. This was my best run.

R/T .538
60' 2.322
330 6.375
1/8 9.679
Mph 75.84
1000 12.433
1/4 14.77
MPH 97.26

I experienced alot of wheel hop through second, and still getting used to the tree, I don't think I launched right.

Your 60' times were pretty slow. What were you launching at? It takes practice, don't get discouraged. The launch is where its at

Get those launches down to 2.0 or below and you've got yourself a low 14 second car.

When starting out and going for a fast time don't worry so much about jumping the tree. Your time does not start until you begin to move. Concentrate on your launching and drop the 60 ft down. The best you may see on street tires is a 2.0/2.1 60 ft and that is with a perfect launch. The geometry of our cars is not the best for this kind of racing even if though it is RWD. Regardless keep practicing and have fun..

You should be able to get to a lower 14 with a 2.2 60 foot which is entirely achievable.

You car is capable of faster times than a 14.7.

Fun fact, last night I cut a 2.445 60 foot and ran a 14.756@98.06, so I know how you feel. There were a couple of 6mt 350z's there that spun and wheel hopped through second. It's a common problem for our cars.

1/4 mile

Thanks for all the help, wheel hop and my take offs primarily affected my time. It was difficult for me to monitor the RPM's on take off and watch the tree, with practice I should be able to get better. I tried to launch @3500rpms, however I found when I when higher in the rpms in first then switched to second I had more wheel hop than if I shifted to second @5800 rpms. What is the optimal gear changes through take offs?

Also I think the track might have played a part, they race all kinds of vehicles all night long, laying down a slick coat of rubber in the take off area, this might be one of the reasons I couldn't hook up.

Thanks

14.77 on stock 17s? You ran very high times.
I ran 14.6 on my oem 19s. while I have Nvidia test pipes, borla exhaust, spacer, mrev2, ur pulles, airbox with z tube.
I ran 14.6 at 96mph. and i was very disspointed with it. Before i had put on my 19s. I ran on 17s and my time was 13.9 @ 102mph ( i dont wanna lie, it was around there) but the temp was pretty chilly around 60s. Oh yeah I have 03 sedan 2

Temp has a lot to do with ur time and speed.

it's all about the launch, getting a sub 2 60' will easily put you in the low 14's

How is it that you have a Mrev2 on an 03?

Independent rear suspension, street tires and a stick car add up to a tricky launch. Don't be disappointed.

Good points.

Make sure you redline every single gear, and try different methods of launching. (ie. 3500 dumped, 3500 slipped, 2500 slipped, etc, etc). That will give you a better feel for the car and how it reacts to each scenario.
