Mustang drag racer interested in being competetive with a G35
Ok forgive me for the ignorace....first off I am a Mustang guy with lots of experience building and drag racing stangs. The G35 has caught my attention over the past couple of years and I'm really considering buying one once I come back from deployment. I love the styling of these cars and they seem to make descent power. I have searched some of the tech articles on here and it seems the cars run pretty good and I was browsing through the top 25 1/4 mile times on this site and looking at some of the mods. How difficult would it be to acheive some low 12 second times with these cars and what kind of mods are we talking about? Is it possible to do it all motor with no power adders? Dumb question I know, I guess anything is possible with the right amount of cash. Someone school me please. Thanks

Well Z's will be faster to being with because of the weight reduction.. Plus they have a shorter wheel base so that means less drivetrain loss and a tad more hp from a shorter exhaust.. Yes those things are marginal, but they count.

all i can say is that takes a ****load of power to make a decent time. I did a 12.4 with just a vortech and a stock block, so thats about as easy as it gets.
My G coupe was 3655 with me in it (I am 225lbs) and I have TT with a big FMIC.
