Question 15" Wheels on Back of '05 G35 Coupe?

Anybody here ever put a set of 15 inch wheels on the back of a 2005 G35 Coupe? I know a lot of the 350z guys use 15" wheels on the back of their Z's, but I believe they all have 11.6 inch diameter rotors. The 2005 G35 Coupe is the first G/Z to have the 12.1" (308mm) rear rotors.

I'm curious as to whether there is enough clearance on the inside the wheel. I'd like to use 15" wheels because the tires and wheels are both more readily available and offer more selections... plus I'd like a higher sidewall...

I saw that in your sig... Thanks for the feedback, though...

I'm beginning to think I need at least 16" wheels... that eliminates a lot of wheels...

No, I have the standard 2005 brakes. No Brembos in 2005.

I believe they are larger than the '03 and '04 brakes, though...

yeah the rims are 15x8.5 with 5.5 backspacing. I had to run about a 5 mm spacer to clear the caliper. It works well and these things hook like crazy. Let me know if you need anything mike

my bad they are 15 x 8. The tires are your choice. I'm running 275 60 15's mickey thopmson cheaters and with the slicks I went with 26.8 m&h racemasters.

Most of the Z guys get the 15x8 w/5.5 rear spacing 5 x 4 1/2 bolt circle wheels and run 275x50/15 or 275x60/15 drag radials on them. I think most of them have older Z's with the smaller rear brakes. As I remember the G35 got the larger brakes in 2005 and the Z didn't get them until 2006.

I'm just wondering if anyone has put a set of these 15x8 w/5.5 rear spacing wheels on the back of a 2005 G35?

It wouldn't be so bad if I could go to a local dealer and try a set on. It seems like I'll have to order them from Jegs or some place like that. I suspect they wouldn't let me send them back after I've tried them on my G35.

JB my g is a 2006. I have the 15x8 with 5.5 backspacing. Like I said you will need to run a 5mm spacer because they will not clear the calipers. You can find them online all the time I'll post some links up for you.

Thanks... I should have figured that out from your screen name...

I guess that totally rules out using a 10 inch wide wheel, then. I would normally use a 10 inch wide wheel with a 11.5 inch wide slick/DR.

Have you replaced your studs? I'd like to get a set of longer studs, especially if I'm going to need a spacer.

Thanks for the info, Mike...

Finding 15s to fit will probably be more expensive because you'll have to go with something pretty specialized. If it were me, I'd pick up a set of 90-96 Nissan 300ZX 16X8 rims. They're cheap, they're light (18lbs), and they're plentiful. There are lots of available DRs in that size as well because so many F-Bodies run the 16X8s with DRs. If stock suspension F-bodies can pull 1.6 60 foots on the 16"- 26" tall DRs, then you're G shouldn't have any traction problems. The biggest problem you'll have is bogging. The VQ doesn't have the torque and I believe you have a lightened flywheel plus those cams won't help on lowend power either. All of those things will work against you when trying to launch the car hard. You'll need to probably do a 6000rpm clutch slip launch to get into the 1.8 60 foot range.
