M3 vs G35

Friend and I have been debating who is faster, we don't want to race since we're smart enough that we don't want to get any tickets. We just don't have the time to go down to a track, I'd like to maybe pull to 60mph on the highways out here in Jersey but even then I feel it's too risky.

He's got a stock 2005 m3 not the 6mt but their auto version of the 5at...

I've got an 06 g35 coupe 5at, borla true dual exhaust, z-tube/pop charger/ fast intentions 300 cell HFCs. both cars have 40k miles on em. straight line i'm almost positive I can get em. (running on stock 17's since I popped 2 tires on my m45 sport package rims)

He's just got an ego that his m3 is so great (came from a 2004 v6 mustang) that nothing can beat him. I'm the type of person that hates people with huge ego's. I'm always open to the fact that any persons car can beat me and I'm constantly badgered by a bunch of VW kids who want to race me. I always decline the offer because I have better things to do than waste my gas at 2am in the morning and I don't want to deal with cops.

I have looked up times for his car having 5.5 on a 0-60 and low 14's on the 1/4 mile. Now that's not too far off from what we have stock, but i'm not stock

Any ideas on who'd win? I'm almost positive that I'd have him by at least 1/2 a car length.

here's the thing, my friend has a 04 6mt and beats him and me n my friend are pretty much neck n neck. I'm almost moer than positive I can take em, I've raced m3's around his year and i don't get spanked, i either keep up or i barely beat em.

guess it's gonna be a close race

i'd just like to burst his bubble to show him that YES his car is very beatable by another N/A car.

You will get spanked up one way and down the other by a M3. Plus it looks sexier.

Just go race and see who wins. forget bench racing.

takes under 13 seconds to finish...if that.

When my car was close to stock, i raced 10 different M3s with 10 different drivers. I only lost to one of them. Most M3 drivers suck when it comes to driving and it is not an easy car to drive fast. Properly driven M3 is faster than the 335, yet in 99% of the races you will see the 335 pull ahead.
If ur friend sucks at driving then anyone has a chance.

Well I raced an M3 and won but I don't whether the guy couldn't drive or what, but IMO M3's are much faster than a G35.

You would need a full bolt-on + tune to keep up with an M3.

And if you have a 5AT, you would also have to do some drivetrain upgrades.

Give it up, his car looks better and performs better. Go race a neon to make yourself feel better.

M3. you can't really "mess up" on shifting an AT.

Sure you can. If you don't stall the TC on launch, you'll be hella slow off the line which means high 2.3 60 foots vs mid/high 2.1s. If you let the 5AT shift itself, it will shift a bit too early into 3rd and way too early into 4th. Missing out on both these things means the difference between running 14.2-14.4@98mph stock and 14.7-14.9@95mph stock.

As for the M3, the SMG M3 should walk all over the 5AT coupe, even one with those mods.

You'll lose. I was up against one in the world cup finals here last year and barely beat it. Look at round 1 the 4th race down our times are very close. http://mirworldcupfinals.com/wcf/results_08/ss.htm
