Currently own a g35 and stepping into an m3 very shortly. Have raced my buddy with an 03 smg e46 m3 from all different highway speed rolls... m3 spanked me every time.

m3 will win. from the factory e46 m3's are running low 13's. G35's are runnig 14's from the factory. I'm sorry, but the m3 will beat the g35 everytime.

 

M3s are great cars, but they are not made for the drag strip, a AT m3 is easily beatable by a bolt-on tuned G35 6spd...

people put the M3 up on a pedistool, which it deserves, but its not a 1/4 mile monster by any means.. its a perfectly constructed car that deserves much praise but its not as fast as some of you make it out to be...

BUT a very good driver in a 6mt M3 launching hard and shifting at the right RPMS in each gear SHOULD beat a g35 BUT its gonna take some skill to do so, skills that most M3 drivers do not have...

i think if you gave me a M3 Bone stock and a bone stock g35 im gonna get the better time with the M but mods on the G could be a different story...

i guess it depends, are u thinking of going 130mph+ for that final gear pull..
you can typically see teh power difference by 80-90mph..the car will either walk away or not...

my money on the M3, unless he doesnt know how to drive it
they are kinda tricky to drive correctly. my sister has teh smg m3...took it out a few times..

 

some people think an auto m3 is slow compared to any typical auto.... smg is actually electronically controlled clutch and actually can put down FASTER times then a manual m3 when controlled right. auto tranny on the g35 is just a typical slushbox(even if its a good slushbox).....

smg m3 will give the g35 a world of hurt in majority of cases.
