For an MT on an 05 revup with normal street tires I hold it at 3K RPMS slip out the clutch.. As soon is it grabs and car starts rolling and quickly fully release the clutch and floor it at the same time..

Its all in the feel.. You'll know. Key is to minimize wheels spin as much as possible..

I'd be way to scared to do a redline launch on a bolt on car.. Just because it might **** something up pretty bad.
Have to brake things to find the limit ........the old adage "gotta pay to play" comes to mind as well.

With 305/35/18 555R's, ~18psi, slight feathering then full engagement, 4-4.5k rpm launches, consistent 1.75-1.85 60' (as long as the clutch holds up)

555R drag radials or regular 555r street tires? I had the street tires and they are/were junk.

You would definately get a hard launch at 850 rpm. Actually you really need to take in many factors, one of which is the tires. You want as much traction as posible and end up in a good area as far as your hp/torque curves, that will vary greatly with different setups.

The NT555R's are the drag radials. I believe the streets are NT555's.

Bumping an old thread for some launching advice for a 07 G35 6mt Sedan.

I've read that 2500-4000RPM is ideal.

Any tips on how feathering the clutch/throttle?

I'm not trying to toot my horn, but I think street tires should not be messed with too much.
88 dollars must be nice !! i just spent 550 on one rear due to a ****ing nail ! hmm guess ill try someof these ideas

didnt read all the comments..but this has too many variables...tires and suspension play too much of a factor to say a certain rpm works best.

now thats what im talkin about!

off the bottle, i like leaving between 4500 and 5500 and slipping the first car length and then feathering it out from there. a little wheelspin in first is ok, whereas wheel hop is bad. if i dump the clutch at 3k ill wheelhop and not go anywhere because im not really into the powerband yet. this is an utterly horrible launch technique. but if i come out harder like i described above, i get some slight wheelspin and some tire squealing but no wheelhop. the car gets up and move. these cars make good power past 4500 so you have to keep it up there in the powerband if you want it to go anywhere, including when you launch! the goal is to get your wheel speed up without blowing the tires off.

when im on the bottle i can launch lower, around 3000-3500 and im a lot better off because the car makes the most torque there. the car makes so much power that it wont wheelhop. it will either blow the tires away or hook just enough to get going. i hit second and slide a little bit and im gone. if you spin too much in first and are under speed (to hit second) its best to rev it out a little bit (say to 7200 as opposed to 6800 where i normally shift) and get the vehicle speed where it needs to be before you grab second. thats the only reason i raised my rev limiter with osiris.

these techniques work really well for me, but i suggest anyone trying to learn how to launch to experiment with their own car and practice, practice, practice!
