The brace is good, but in my case, my bushing was leaking and shot which left the diff with too much movement for a brace to hold down.

any ill effects of swapping o the stiffer bushings?

None at all. Some say there is more noise, but I never noticed a difference. Also, since my bushing was blown, the rear felt more planted and responsive in the turns.
