Drag radial questions
I started looking at Drag Radials today. I went to tirerack and looked at the BFG T/A's. So here's what I came up with:
I'm thinking about getting the 205/40/17's, and putting them on Cheryl's stocker 04 wheels. The stock tires on her 04 were 215/55, so the DR's are only 10mm skinnier. They also have a tire height of 23.5 inches, versus the stock height of 26.3 inches. This is a difference of roughly 10%. Also, the DR's weigh in at 20 pounds, versus the stock weight of 26 pounds, so the new tires would show a weight loss of 6 pounds each.
So here are my questions. First, am I crazy in assuming the 205's will fit the stock 7" rims? Second, are there any flaws in my belief that the 10% shorter ride height will be similar to going from my stock 3.5 gears to the 3.9's? And last, can anyone recommend really light wheels to run in the rear, preferably 17x7?
And before anyone questions my choice in tire width, let me explain. 205 is only 10mm skinnier than the stock tires. I really don't think this extra 20mm(both tires combined) is going to hurt me. If BobbyD can pull low 2.0's on his stock turanza el42's (215/55/17, *crappy* "standard" all season tires), then I'm bound to get decent launches off this setup.
The only thing that worries me is I have no idea how to properly pre-stage/warm the tires/do a burnout. Gotta learn sometime...

I actually have the same question about pre-stage/burn out & launching. I am looking into getting NITTO's NT 01 drag radial. A shop has offered me a pretty good deal for the wheels & tires. So if anyone has any experience w/ the NITTO's please let me know on their performance.
Thanks
