Tee Hee Hee.......... Lookie what I found. This guy is a nut but he knows his stuff!!! I'm still looking for the link I promised but this is a little switch he made up the gives you full line pressure at WOT only. So you're daily driving doesn't suffer. He claims the tranny doesn't heat up like the normal shift because of the quick shift (less time for friction). Give it a look. Hey 12 sec run for N/A........ not bag at all.

I'll still look for the other link. Have a look at his Video of the tranny kill

What, you've tried all the others? Or is it just that his kit works well on your car?

As a skeptic, I tried the Sun Auto kit first, deciding to go with a big name that's in all the mags. Then I switched to Stillen hoping a kit designed for the car by Nissan specialists would be better. It wasn't. Having the opportunity to sell my other kits, I decided to thoroughly research the kits, and decided on GroundingGear, for the best of both worlds. And for their R&D promo pricing, the difference is only about $30, not $100 from what what your friend is banging out of his garage. And yes, there is a difference, based on the ones I've tried.

A firmware up-grade may or may not be noticeable.

No. it depends more on the grounding points used, rather than the actual numbers of wires. The kit mentioned above with 12 wires uses different grounding points than some others here, as does the Stillen.

I asked Gord (GroundingGear) if I should add a few more wires, and he said that I could, but wouldn't suggest it. He did testing up to 14 or 15 wires, and found no difference. He even offered the extra wires to me at a very attractive price, but suggested that I save my money. So I thought, do I just want bragging rights just for numbers, or an actual tested and proven System?

I'll stay at 10 until R&D proves otherwise.

GG was the first to go beyond 6 wires, and now it seems that everyone is playing copy-cat to make a fast buck.

Everybody seems to be forgetting that from 04.5+, the TCM is built into the valve body. That's a big reason there is improved performance with those models over previous.

I love my gears---yes I do!

Completely changes the way the cars runs. Very fast off the line and hitting target powerband areas at every shift. However, as this thread is about improving shifts, and gears don't do that, I left it out.

I don't think the fact that the TCM is inside the valve body makes for better shifting. It's more about the specific TCM programming vs where it's located. Unless I'm wrong. If so, please explain.

Swap is fairly straight forward from what I hear. But I don't know what it does to your odo, Navi if you have it, etc.. You do lose the use of your cruise control.

The bottom line is that any shop who can do gear swaps in differentials, can do this one too. you can save some headache and time buy purchasing a fully ready to swap unit from 350EVO.com. When your done, send them the old one as a core. Labor is cheaper and all the shims and hard stuff will be done for you....
You'll end up spending a bit less, as you shop only has to swap pumpkins, and not setup the gears as well. Rick...<!! i dont know what to do =(
<!! i dont know what to do =([/quote]

The only thing it affects is the cruise control....that will be history...

Some of the sites listed I am sorry to say were not helpful. Anyone know what the best valve body upgrade is and where I can get one from? And also what is it suppose to improve shifting crispness, speed or something else?

I won't deny that the '05 has better programming logic than previous iterations, but the redesign of the TCM location was to reduce lag time and improve the physical performance of the connection.

And the 3.917 swap is great. Only downside is loss of cruise control and slightly reduced mileage because of the higher engine rpm's at highway speed, but the improved acceleration makes up for it. If you're going to consider a swap, also do the differential at the same time. The ring gear you swap surrounds the diff. Saves you a lot of money in the long run on labor.
